Post Bad acne in my twenties, what will help?!?!?!

    Hi!

Over the past ten years or so I have developed really bad acne (I am 27). Of course, it flares up right before my period comes. However, this is not "typical" acne. I get hard zits that hurt like crazy to even touch sometimes. I also get white bumps on my fore head, sides of cheek bones, under my bottom lip, under my nose, in the T zone....you name it they will pop up....but it is not an excessive amount at one time. There may be five or so that pop up that are white pimples....which are the easy ones for me to take care of! Well, usually anyways! lol

This may not sound like a lot of acne but this is on top of five or so hard zits...the kind that take days to fester and then when you finally get a head on it to pop, it bleeds forever then scabs. I feel like I have a crater face by the time my period comes and leaves....which takes about to two weeks for them to clear up only for it to be time again for them to come...ugh!

Am I the only one whose face does this who is in their late twenties???

It is really embarrassing. My gyno recently put me on birth control to help with my PCOS and my acne. It has helped some but not to my complete satisfaction.
I have only been on the bc pill since December though, so maybe it has not had enough time to take full effect???

I am not one to spend a lot of money on facial products. I shop at drugstores mostly for my acne products. I do not use fancy products, I use things such as Clearasil, Noxema, and other brands such as that. I have a scrub that I use in the shower and anti-blemish pads I use at night before I go to bed. I do take showers at night, so I will wash my face and use the blemish pads, but only when I need them.

Now to the point of my thread....my gyno recommended me to use something like Clinque cleaner for my face. I am all for using something that will work, but I just don't know what kinds of cleaners/acne care Clinque or other name brands offer.

My cousin used Proactive and it worked for a while, but it begin to not work and not be effective for treating her acne, so she stopped using it. I understand that everyone is different as far as what will work for them, but what suggestions do you have for acne skin care?

Thanks for taking time to read! (ps...sorry this was so long!) =)

have you looked into Spironolactone?, if you have pcos, then you probably your body produces a lot more testosterone, spiro helps to block it.

    I use all natural,

    Best acne treatment:
You must first stop the pasty glue that forms in your pores and regularly care your skin firstly wash your face with warm water and mild soap after that dry face with clean towel, most important to avoid squeeze your pimples they may spread rapidly, and eating a well-balanced diet high in fiber, zinc and raw foods, to avoiding tobacco, alcohol, caffeine, sugar processed foods and food high in iodine such as a salt, oil food.

One of the easiest things you can do is increase your water consumption throughout your day to help flush your system and keep your skin clear. Sip water throughout the day instead of guzzling it a few times a day.

Mine does it too, those hard blind ones, black heads, and the normal ones, and normal ones, especially on my back and chin. Will try the advice given.

    Waiting,
I have a problem with adult acne too (especially that week before). There are a few tips that my dermatologist gave me that really help keep it under control:
    1. Keep your hands (and hair) away from your face. The oils produced in higher amounts that week before your period are not just on your face, but your fingers and scalp too.
    2. Avoid heavy makeup, creams, and lotions as they'll only clog your pores more. And while harsh chemicals, masks and peels might make you feel clean, they can irritate your skin and also make the problem worse.
    3. Drink plenty of water...best part it's free!
    4. Don't forget to change your pillowcase often. It won't be as bad if you wash your face at night, but keep in mind you sweat (and maybe drool) on that and then lay on it for hours.
    5. Wash your face at least before your go to bed every day with the most natural products available.
I like the new Facial Clay and Cornmeal soaps from Krayv Naturals (krayvnaturals.etsy.com). I use the facial clay at least every day (sometimes twice) for getting rid of the oiliness and the cornmeal bar twice a week as a light exfoliant. I always end up feeling squeeky clean with out getting super-dried out.
