    Default What is exfoliating?

I don't really know what it is, what body parts you do it on, what you use, and how often you use it.... and how you do it!

Can you girls tell me what products you use to exfoliate your face/body and how often you use it?

I have oily skin, but after I shower the skin on my face is very flakey, so I just rub off all the dead skin while it's damp and that helps. Is that what exfoliating does too?

Exfoliating is removing dead skin from your body/face.

I use a body scrub as well as a facial scrub, both from Origins, and a loofah to exfoliate when I'm in the shower. I don't exfoliate every day, only about once a week, maybe twice.

The skin is always repairing itself. Our skin is in layers and it sheds. When the skin sheds, it leaves flakes of dead skin all over the face (even if we cannot see it). If we leave the dead skin pieces on our face, that mixed with every day bacteria and makeup.. it will eventually clog our pores. This is why people often associate acne with not cleaning ourselves.
Do not exfoliate every day. If you exfoliate every day, you remove all the natural oils from your face- and if you do that, your body will only freak out and produce more oil!
And of course.. after washing your face (whether it be soap or exfoliating scrub) always mosturize! Though you have oily skin, if you don't moisturize.. like I said, your body will create even more oil which isn't too good for your skin. Using a moisturizer.. it keeps your normal moisture levels in check, not letting it be too low or too high!
