Default Fair skin, what to do?!

Hi there everyone! I am going to be going on a 7 day cruise to Bermuda the begining of June. I have fair skin (brown hair, blue eyes). I don't think I have ever been tan my whole life. I thought about trying to go tanning before so I won't burn so bad, but I am not sure that is a good idea because of skin cancer. A good SPF would probably be better I would guess, but I am not sure.

Any thoughts what I should do????

Thanks in advance!!

Hi,

Mmm... i have fair skin but my father's ability to tan, grey eyes and was blonde...

Go for 30+ and have a sheer long sleeve top you can throw on over and a big hat, you can still look classy, sexy, cool, which ever mode you want with the right choice of colours with these, maybe white?

Have fun, i'm jealous, i so need a holiday...

Bali, Christmas - New Year i think.....

I think that if you have very fair skin and you are going to a very hot climate, you should probably use an extremely high SPF. I personally don't think that SPF30 is enough. I would use an SPF of at least 40+, maybe even 50. I have fair skin and use a SPF50 daily, no matter what the weather. Have fun on your vacation but cover up!

thanks for the comments!

I have 50 SPF that I am bringing with me that I will just put on every couple hours or so. I'm gonna try to find a cover up, I burn the most on my shoulders. If I cant find one, I'll just put even more on. Maybe I'll go through the whole bottle in a week!!!!

Gee 30+ is all we can get in Australia, i guess that is because our sun is not as hot as where you are going, or from so they sell higher SPF there. Learn something new everyday.

I would imagine, even Target have sheer long jackets to put over the top of bathers, that can be used on your cruise, as you only want "sheer" otherwise you'll boil...

Good luck and have fun.

I think they have SPF up to 100.... don't they?

In walmart you can find covers for bathing suits (it's summer now right?) and they shouldn't be expensive. They have these blouses that are completely see through, which are great for the sun and to keep cool! They also have the matching pants that I see women use when I was in Florida. You just toss them on over your swimsuit...

If you can't find any there... are their stores that sell only water-fun stuff? Like bathing-suits and surf boards all...?

My mother makes clothes, she made me an adorable almost see through dress with a long see through cover... it's all white with a bit of blue on it, and my swimsuit was blue, I'd wear the dress and cover over my swimsuit while on the boat (to shell island!) or in a resturant, and just the cover at pool side! So if you are good at sewing get some material!

Oh, and you can probably find some big-rim straw hats, they don't really look so silly if you're at the beach or on a cruise, they actually can look kinda classy like CW said! ... I wouldn't suggest it walking down the streets of New York or anything though!

Best of luck!
