Default Teeth whitening at home - What do you think?

I wanted to know what kind of experiences you girls had with tooth whitening at home products like the ones here (edit link) I only tried the first one and my teeth were only slightly better. The reason I'm asking is because my mom and her friends tried them and it worked wonders. Who here has tried this stuff? Did it work just as well for you?

    Thanks!

I have used the Crest brands and they really really work! .. I swear by them!
They even make a 5 minute a day one that I use. The first time I ever used them I had so many compliments only maybe 4 days after using them.
def a thumbs up from me!

LADIES PLZ: don't even think about using lemons, baking soda & what not on your teeth. You will lose naturally occurring calcium as citric acid (found in Lemon) will snatch it from your teeth. 15 days of white teeth and then lots of embarrassment.
Dont get me wrong, you all have really great ideas there for whitening your teeth naturally. But here's the deal. My friend used to have teeth pale as a banana peel. Smoking & Coffee almost killed his whole jaw. After a lots of research i found a remedy. No acid, no fruits, no nuts, no sandpapers please.

Tree peel, known as 'Dandasa'. What so special about this peel? Did you all notice that ancient Egyptian mummies still have white teeth, after 5000 years being burried underground. Offcourse they didn't have toothpastes & lasers back then. What were they eating/doing with their teeth? Tree peel.

This peel is found in rarest locations around the world i.e., India, Pakistan, Nepal, Tibet, parts of Afghanistan and southern tip of China. Its called Dandasa. I ordered a sample from India and used it on myself; gave it to my friend. 15 min of rubbing, after covering gums & inner lips with olive oil, his teeth were shining like midnight stars, viewed from Mt Everest.

And no, this is not marketing tactic. I am a student at a university in Dallas, and happened to have good connections in India to be able to import this product for personal use.

.........*EDIT** save some money, go green and save your Smile. Smile is one thing that will elevate yoru respect in others' eyes. Dont let it go just like that ... !

Peroxide is the key ingredient in most whiteners. This safe-for-the-mouth bleaching agent forms bubbles on enamel that lift away stains. The higher the concentration of peroxide and the longer you leave it on your teeth, the whiter they'll get. The downside: Bleaching molecules can get trapped in nerve passageways, causing increased, though temporary, tooth sensitivity.

What is being reffered to here is peelu and is readily available in most health food stores. It can be found in manufactured products including toothpaste, toothpowder (my preference) or gum. Or you can go traditional and just get the twigs, for those you may have to go to middle eastern market. They are a twig, you just peel off the outer layer of bark and they are very fiberous and you can use it to clean your teeth, Studies have found this more effective than a brush or floss, although I would still use those.

This bark is also known as sakura (and some other name that I forget) does whiten teeth but the problem with this is that it causes your teeth and lips to turn orange after. A not so desired side effect that these 'legit' sellers conveniently fail to mention. If someone wants to use a natural method choose one that has already been approved and on the OTC shelves like you already mentioned. Anything bought online should be used with caution. I also agree that simple regular brushing and flossing is the best way to go.

How long does the orange teeth/lips last for - is it long-term or just temporary?

I don't know, it was mentioned to me in class. Neither the whitening nor the orange tinge are going to be permanent or long lasting, any whitening product is eventually going to lose its effect. Aside from actual professional work from an actual doctor or simply sticking to a non teeth-staining diet I doubt anything is going to work grandly.
