Wisdom teeth... in or out?

Hey everyone. So, I know wisdom teeth issues are quite common. My two bottom wisdom teeth are breaking through, and I've been told there is not enough room in the back of my mouth for them to come in fully. When I had an x-ray, my two top wisdom teeth are not even there (that's lucky).

So my question is, should I have them out or wait and see if they cause problems? They aren't bothering me that much right now, besides sore gums once in a while. My dentist is indifferent as to what I should do, she says it's my call. I've never had any kind of oral surgery, not even a cavity, so I'm a little nervous about having it done. For those of you that have had yours out, what was your experience, and should I just bite the bullet and do it? Thanks.

Yes I say out as well. I am going through the same thing right now and I am getting mine pulled over Spring Break. Wisdom teeth can cause your whole mouth to become crooked. They put you out when they remove them so its not like you will have to worry about the pain during the operation. Just get rid of them now so you dont have to get them out later in life.

OK... so I have an appointment in a couple of weeks to have those suckers removed. They are starting to bother me more often now, and my dentist's opinion is they need to come out before they start causing problems. Thing is, I'm such a pansy when it comes to any kind of surgery... and I've never had oral surgery before. I'm scared... I have my BFF coming with me, and he offered to take care of me for a few days afterwards (he had it done last year). I told him I might try to chicken out, and he might have to drag me there kicking and screaming like a 4-year old... heh. Any advise on how I can get past the fear and just do it? Thanks.

Hey u are so same like me. I have always hated going to Dentists. There chair give me goosebumps lol
But the only thing which drag me there is either my mom or that sever pain

So then i consider it like a night mare which will soon be over with a shining morning

What my mom used to say is " As women we should not be afraid of such minor pains as we have to experience labor pains"

So its just a trail

i just hope i did not make you more afraid

I guess you just have to wait for it to grow on its own. However, if its causing you discomfort, you better go to your dentist to see if its impacted. I know some people who had an operation due to impacted wisdom teeth.

Hi, i say if they're causing you discomfort now have them out. All mine grew and gradually ended up with 18 months of pain, infections etc taking umpteen antibiotics. In the end i had all 4 (what was left of them) taken out, best thing i did taking into account i have a phobia to needles. Because of my medical cond i was awake all through it had lots of injections, but glad i did it cause i havnt had any problems since. This was a few years ago and it only took up to an hour,ask yourself do you want to suffer long term or face a phobia for a short while??

I opted for oral surgery because I really do not like the dentist with all that poking and proding. Instead all I had to endure for the actual surgery was a tiny prick of a needle for an IV in my hand...and that to me is far better than being totally awake hearing dental drills and feeling the pressure of teeth getting pulled. However after my surgery I got an infection which I had to go back into surgery to have it drained. Also the pain for the first day after surgery was the worst I have ever felt. But after that one day the bruising and everything was very very tolerable with the pain meds...which I would not recommend going without lol.

I had my wisdom teeth pulled but I put it off because I was terrified to go and have it done. Well, because I waited my perfectly straight teeth are now crooked and to be honest the pain that I had from my wisdom teeth coming out and there not being enough room for them actually hurt worse then going and having them removed. You will be uncomfortable for 2-3 days and you won't be able to eat anything aside from jello and pudding etc... just follow doctors orders and you will be fine. I hate the dentist and it really wasn't that bad at all.

Seek a second opinion. I had to have one of my top wisdom teeth pulled as an emergency because it was rubbing the inside of my mouth raw. I had to go to a specialist because my regular dentist wasn't in, he said I should set up an appointment to have the other three removed, he called it routine for teenagers. Well I went in to my regular dentist awhile later (probably for a cleaning) and he said we'd pull the other one on top because it looked like it might slant out too, but the bottom ones I had enough room for, so I still have them.

Moral of the story, always seek a second opinion. The problem with the bottom ones is more often than not they need surgery to remove because they don't come in all the way, or just barely pierce the gums. So that could get expensive, but if they don't cause you pain, or ganna be a problem with dental hygine, there's no reason to have them pulled.
