I 100% recommend sedation dentistry. I put off going to the dentist for a few years because of my fear of the pain and needles. Just two days ago I had four dental implants put in, as well as my wisdom teeth removed. I luckily don’t remember any of it.

I took Halcion. I had to pay out of pocket for the dentist to be able to prescribe it to me. It ended up being an additional $300 more. But to me, it was well worth it. It’s all up to you and if you can justify the additional cost.

Not only do I not I remember the visit, but I was extremely relaxed whenever I needed Novocain. Needles are the worst to me and because of the Halcion, I didn’t even freak out once during my visit. I say go for it if you can afford it and are deathly afraid of the dentist like me.

    Smile sedation dentistry

Let me tell you last week a tooth of mine broke off at the gum line. I had a large filling in it and it was ready to go. I had bad experience as a child and hate going to the dentist. The dentist I currently go to is also a anesthesiologist. He gave me my options and I opted for sedation. You can have nothing to eat or drink for about 6 hors.Thankfully I had just gotten up from my sleep from night shift and he was able to do the procedure. They have you sign consent and then gave me 2 sublingual tablets to disolve under the tongue. They place a iv in my arm and I called my spouse (who had dropped me off). He talked to the dentist and they told him they would call when they were finished. As they were putting me to sleep I also had them do my root cleanings in all 4 quadrants. They gave me medicine in my IV and I don't even remember getting to my house He removed my tooth, did bone grafting, placed sutures, did my root cleanings. My medications were called in to the pharmacy 3 blocks from my home and my husband went to pick them up after he got me settled at home. I was put to sleep at 3pm. My spouse picked me up at 730 pm. I woke up and knew where I was at 1130pm. I don't remember taking out my contacts when I got home or taking my first dose of medications (antibiotics and pain meds). Recovery has been a snap. I slept the majority of the weekend. Went to work Monday night. Rested most of yesterday and am pretty much pain free today. I have to go and get the sutures out this weekend. I have to wait 3 month for the implant. So that the bone grafting takes. The tooth was my back molar. I would highly recommend this if they are doing alot of work. It is worth the extra $400 for sedation for me. Good Luck Debs
