Default Teeth and hormones?

I am wondering if it is possible for a woman's teeth to become a bit loose before and during her period. Can hormones make our teeth loose? If so, will they tighten up soon? Thanks.

No. Hormonal fluctuation due to menstruation will not make your teeth loose. Lack of proper dental hygiene will. It is VERY important to floss at least once a day as plaque will settle between your gums and your teeth, causing separation aka dental pockets. This will lead to periodontal disease and bone loss which leads to tooth loss. Periodontal disease can lead to other health issues like diabetes.

Loose teeth can also be an indication of vitamin deficiency. Are you taking a multi vitamin? You may also be low in iron.

The only time a woman needs to be aware of change in mouth due hormonal changes is due to pregnancy. The growing fetus depletes the mother of nutrients which is why new mothers often end up in the doctors office with new cavities once the baby is born.

So often we don’t floss because our gums bleed or it hurts. This is simply a sign that we are not flossing enough. Start flossing regularly and gargle with a 50/50 solution of water and hydrogen peroxide. The effects wills not be instant but you will prevent the continued separation of your gums from your teeth as well as the pleasant side effect of whitening your teeth.

It gross layman’s terms, it is the feces or waste of the plaque that causes the actual decay to our teeth. It is a living organism and does eliminate, literally, in our mouth. It is important to remove as much of the plaque as possible and a toothbrush will not get into the tight spaces between your teeth or under your gums like dental floss will.

Happy flossing!!

It is not a muscle that holds your teeth in place. Our teeth are held in place by the bone of our jaw and the gums which are not a muscle but rather tissue.

It is VERY important to floss at least once a day.
