I have always been over weight, the last few years I have been so busy with work that I have stop a lot of my organized sports. I need someone to help me and I will help them on their journey. I need moral support and a little push now and then, and the favor will be returned. Ideally I would like to be 180lbs. Thanks

Hi, I am trying to lose weight too. I am short only 5'3. I currently weigh 171. A few months ago I was 186. So I have lost 15lbs. I was 120 lbs before having kids. I don't want to be that small. I think I would be happy at 135-145. That is the healthy weight for my height. I would love to have a buddy on here.

Just wanted to throw this out there. We started a fitness group, which is located under the community tab. It's a group focused on losing weight the healthy way. We can offer encouraging words and really help you through tough times.

About hubby, I have the same kind of sweet guy. He'll never tell me that I'm fat. Your best bet is to decide to lose weight on your own. It's hard, but that's what we're here for. Get on board

Default New here, love idea of weight loss buddy

Hello all,

I love the idea of a weight loss buddy! I've been trying to lose the same 12 pounds for a year now, without much luck. But then, I've been doing it completely on my own, so I thought maybe having a support group and a forum to track my efforts might help. Also, I'm getting married in July, so that's a huge motivator :-)

I'm 5'3", 121 pounds, and am trying to get back down to where I was in college, 109 pounds. I know that probably sounds skinny, but for me it was actually a healthy weight that I was able to maintain without dieting. I used to be pretty athletic in college, running about 4 miles 4-5 times a week, but I let myself get seriously out of shape the last two years. I've been gradually working back up to that over the past couple months, and am now up to exercising 4-5 times a week again, though not quite at the level I was at.

For me, the difficult part is getting my portion sizes in check. I used to never have problems with this, and paid attention to how much and what I ate, but I started putting on weight during a stressful time last year that I tried to deal with by eating junk food (it doesn't help). I've picked up a couple bad habits, including eating too much too fast, that I haven't been able to shake. I love to eat healthy food, but often eat too much of it.

Part of the problem is that I rarely take a lunch break at work, usually eating in front of the computer or in the car (awful habit, I know!). At home, my guy is a fast eater and a snacker, and he's kind of rubbed off on me.

So, I'm going to make an effort to eat more slowly and stop myself after an appropriate serving size (NO seconds!). And I'll also take a short break at work whenever possible to actually eat my lunch and not mindlessly slurp it while doing something else. I'll try to update my progress on here just about every day.

I'd love to be weight loss buddies with someone, and look forward to meeting all of you (online that is)!

Default Update

Hello all,

Well, after slipping up big time last night and eating WAY too much (and not much healthy) I felt kind of sick this morning but have gotten back on track and am now feeling much better. The only slip up I had today was eating a snack after lunch-- not because I was hungry or particularly wanted a snack, but more out of force of habit. It made me a little sleepy and I immediately regretted eating it. But, I had a great, healthy dinner- couscous, salad, yogurt and cheese. It was delicious and reminded me of how I feel a million times better when I actually take the time to cook myself something healthy instead of grabbing junk. I've also realized that cooking real food cuts down BIG time on any urges to snack on junk. More to come tomorrow!

Hey i like to read that u r going to make a goal to make ur weight 180lbs. But now u have to be stick to it. As per experience u have to make a perfect schedule of exercise, food and sleeping time. U also have to control ur diet . If ufollow this schedule for few days then u will have habit of it. Then u will see real magic. All the best.

I have lost a total of 12 lbs now and I'd like to share some things that I've done in order to lose the weight:

-Only buy healthy items for food during your grocery trip. Make sure to NOT be hungry when you do the shopping.

-Portion your food out on your plate. Using mostly vegetables, some meat, and very little bread (if at all.)

-Excersize at least 20 mins out of your day. We all are busy, but if we watch an hour worth of news or just have an hour to do whatever then we have the time to excersize.

-Don't beat yourself up over the 'slip ups'. It happened, forgive yourself, and move on.

I don't claim to be a fitness expert. I'm not even asking anyone to use me as their role model (God help anyone who does!). I'm just merely sharing what has worked for me so far. What works for one person may not work for the next.

Keep up the good work!!

Default Thanks for the tips!

Thanks for the tips! Like I said before, I've already made exercise a part of my daily schedule, and now the trick is just making eating right a habit. You're right, I think the first couple days are the hardest, and then eventually it becomes a habit. At least, that's what I've found when losing weight in the past. Today I did quite well, I didn't snack at all! I drank flavored low-cal water at 3pm when I would have usually had something to munch on. And since I was hungrier than usual (meaning I actually had more of an appetite back because I wasn't snacking) it made dinner that much better! Until tomorrow... :0)
