Hello all! I am dire need of weight loss support and I've decided to get "online" buddies.
My family and friends are good, but sometimes the people the closest to you can be the most critical too.I'm 26 years old, and a returning college student. I also work part time (night shift 11pm-7am) at a hospital. I graduate in May 2010 with my Elementary Education degree, so I have a packed schedule! I don't have any kids, but I've been with my BF for five years, and I'm waiting on the ring... (: I'm 5'3 inches and 146 lbs. I have a small build, but I carry all of my weight in my chest (38DD... not as great as it sounds) and in my stomach. My current BMI is 25, which is at the over-weight mark. I would like to lose 16 lbs, to get back down to 130. I was tiny in high school, never weighing more than 115, and slowly over the years it has just crept up and up and up. I'm in a few weddings this summer and have two vacations planned, and I want to feel good about myself and my body. I'm very self-concious of my chest and it's size, and I feel like it makes me look alot bigger than I am. Anyone interested in a weight loss buddy system? I just need some motivation and support where I can list what I've eaten and the activity that I've done that day... sometimes I feel like when you tell your family/friends, they think you are obsessed with food and exercise. I have been trying to lose this weight for two years, and I've never stuck with anything. I have the tools and the information I need to lose it, I just don't have the discipline. As my name states, I wanna wear a bikini this summer!! My biggest down fall is drinking soda, which I'm trying to cut back on and drink more water. I drink alot of water already, a 32oz jug about 3-4 times a day. I'd love to hear from anyone! I posted a few "before" pictures so that I can keep track of my weight. That's great! I also have a goal of 130. I'm at 150 right now ... wanna race? Hehe, just kidding. What kind of plan are you following?

I have a weight goal of 140 lbs. I'm 4 years older than you and I have 3 kids. I don't plan on ever wearing a bikini just because I'm shy! If you don't mind a complete opposite weight loss buddy, then I could help! lol

I'll chat with anyone!
My plan is to drink more water and cut out soda. It'll be hard, but I know that I will feel better. I also plan on doing some type of cardio every day, even if it's only for 30 minutes.... I like both going to the gym or doing something fun outside, its just the motivation needs to be there!! I'm gonna cut bad carbs, and eat more whole grains and fill up on fruits, veggies and protein. That's really my only plan... nothing too complicated, just sensible eating. I want to hit my 10 lb goal by May 9th, because I have a wedding! So hopefully I'll lose 2 lbs a week for the next few weeks, and then I'll be there! Any other suggestions? Thanks for the comments!!!

I'm counting calories and keeping my ratios on a moderate protein plan of 40% carbs, 30% protein, and 30% fat. It might be useful to log in the foods you're eating on a calorie counter to see where everything is going, i.e. carb vs protein vs fat intake. I know I used to have too many carbs ... it was all whole grain but it wasn't balanced, so I ended up hungry all the time.
I also have children, 2 boys, and don't plan to wear a bikini any time soon, hehe. I just wanted to take control of my health and have some level of fitness. I was such a weakling a month ago! Cardio is great but don't forget to have some kind of resistance also. It will only make your cardio burn even more calories. |

My problem is carbs... but so far today I've done really well. I am trying to eat protein for the majority of my daily intake, and eating at least 1300 calories.
( I kept trying to do 1000 and 800 and just felt hungry all the time and was told that eating more calories would actually help because then the body doesn't feel like it's starving.) Anyway... I just keep drinking my 32oz water jugs to keep fuller and I packed a really healthy dinner for work tonight...... turkey burger (no bun) protein shake, 2 cups of spinach salad, a tomato and hummas with whole grain crackers. I'm not sure if I'll eat it all (it seems like alot!) But I always get hungry around 8 or 9pm so my hummus is my little snack for the day. (: Last edited by Little; 04-01-2009 at 11:02 PM. |

I don't count my calories, I just eat more veggies and lean meats. I do excersize, and I make sure to take multivitamins and drink more water. That's my plan of action!
Good luck on working out and losing weight

1300 is a good amount. I teeter between 1350 and 1400 but I work out every day.
You're having a turkey burger and a protein shake in the same meal? How many grams of protein are you having every day? |

Hi,
Thanks for sharing your posts guys! I feel taking herbal tea can also help you to lose some weight especially if you do this when you have a craving for sweets and fatty foods. Some of the tea that you can try are orange, cinnamon, vanilla, almond and apple. |

Personally, I'm trying to lose around a stone to start with. After that, I'll reassess and set a new goal. I work best with small(ish) challenges! I'm trying to cut out carbs as much as possible and drink plenty of water. The tips posted here sound good though so I'll probably be using a few of those too. |
