Do a search though and get after the soft palet exersizes. You need both the weight loss (great job!) and stronger muscles.
54lbs!!!! girl i bet you look hot, are you looking in all the thrift shops for stuff that fits (cause its cheap you dont need to keep it when you lose more weight) have you donated away all your old fat clothes, had your hair done? do you still need an afternoon nap? i seriously admire your resolve - i bet your apnea is a whole lot better even without the machine. tell me everything. i love to hear your success story.

Well 57 now lol! Yay! 54.5 more to go. I have gotten rid of a few clothes but I didn't have much to start with. I am waiting to have a little extra money to buy some clothes but i'm getting there lol. I feel like i'm losing the weight so fast that its pointless to waste money on clothes. And the thrift shops are my first choice lol. I dyed my hair, was blond now dark brown, I take care of my self more like make-up and pamper my skin. Um, as far as the nap some days I need one, some days I don't. Today I do lol. I only sleep 5 hours a night already so with the sleep apnea it was like what 2 or 3? The weirdest thing that has happened so far is: I go walking on my lunch break at work. I work in a house with adults who are mentally and physically disabled. So I walk around the neighborhood and the other day a man was outside of his house who I had never seen before and he said that he couldn't believe how well I had done. I didn't realize that people notice me like that enough to tell that I'm doing so well. I mean I'm already embarrassed some days to the max that I'm thick and exercising and sweating then to notice me and be watching me. It was weird but at the same time encouraging!
Hey what bout ur stories? I've been going on and on bout me but what bout everyone else out there???
Ps: Happy Ending ur great you make me want to work hard so I can tell you bout it!And WildChild thank you too!
Oh yea and I don't really get those stomach pains anymore!
it must of been the artificial sweetners causing the problems as you though. LOL on the man telling you, how well you are doing. must be true!!!! i have started doing the tongue exercises, i seem to be sleeping better but maybe the yoga is helping too. is it summer where you are, if so super cudos to you for exercising thats when i always get lazy - well enjoy your nap you earnt it! do keep us posted about your journey. i enjoy reading it.
take care
Yea it's summer here. I was getting super hot 110 for a few days. I waited til sunset to start my walking. So the tongue thing really works? I don't really understand how to do it that's why I never tried. I'm so happy that it's working for you!I'm just getting worried about the cool season starting. I don't know what to do when it rains. I've tried doing other exercises but I love the walking and I don't want to give it up because the weather. I'm not sure what is happening last week I couldn't take a nap if my life depended on it! Hopefully this week will be better. I'll keep you posted! And thanks again!
Here's the deal, if you look at one of those plastic 3D models that show the throat muscles and all the structure, you'll see it's all inter-related. There are two types of apnea; one is really rare and that's when the brain fails to tell the body to breathe, that is deadly. The other is essentially the throat muscles over relaxing and collapsing into the airway while you sleep. Extra fatty padding in there makes it worse. If you strengthen the muscles, they stay more in place and removing that fat means more space and less extra work to keep the muscles in place. It's really pretty simple. The CPAP uses air flow to keep the air way open artificially. Dropping the weight, which is healthy for the entire body and strengthening those muscles, keeps the airway open naturally. If you have insurance get a referrral to speach therapist, in one visit they should be able to examine, give you exersizes and review them with you to ensure you are doing them correctly. A follow up visit a month later will confirm you are still doing it right and you should be on your way. Beats the heck out of being hooked up to a machine very night for the rest of your life!

That sound's so easy. I don't have insurance anymore that is why it was so vital for me to start loosing weight ASAP. So that's what I have been doing and I feel so much better. I also sleep much better but I use two pillows so i'm not laying flat. I feel so much more rested every morning, even when I only sleep 5 hours!
i have been doing the pallet excercises for about three weeks - i found them on the internet, and i have being feeling so much better but i,m not sure if its those or the yoga, can you get a yoga dvd idduran 05 or attend classes, honestly i feel awesome lately and everyone has noticed that i'm more on the ball. i feel 100% great, most of the time, it seems to be bringing down my anxiety levels too. i attend 1 yoga class a week and have a dvd i do the other days. maybe you could try getting one from your local library, could solve your problem about no being able to walk on rainy days, an hour of yoga will help.
I'm so sad! I've gained 2lbs! lol I know that doesn't seem like such a big thing but I'm irritated! Last week I got burned when I was cooking. I found a recipe on a website and decided to make it. I was making broccoli cheddar soup. The recipe says to boil broth and various veggies for 10mins then put into a food processor or blender and puree so I did. I put everything in the blender, put the lid on and pressed pulse. I noticed right away that the steam was pushing the lid up so I took the lid off, let steam out, put the lid back on and tried again. I stopped and repeated and the third time I turned it on the lid flew off and I was sprayed with broth and veggies. I went to the Emergency Room and they said 1st and 2nd degree burns to my face and a little on my left wrist. I'm better now but I haven't been able to go walking because of the risk of sun burn and sweating makes the burns hurt more and I haven't been eating as well as I had been because of the pain and feeling sorry for myself. So I got side tracked and I feel horrible. Hopefully this week I can put sun screen on and go walking. This really sucks! I'm not good with many other exercises. I guess I love to walk and I seem to stick with it. I was also thinking maybe this will be an ok thing. Maybe this gave my body a chance to rest and be lazy and maybe all the sudden restarting my walking will help me loose a few pounds faster. But I don't know. Maybe i'll just have to wait and see.
