Well, I weigh 133 lbs, so I'm really not overweight. I guess I don't have very many problems with my body either. Any toning I want to do with it can surely be remedied in the gym.

I guess my main concern was that you are saying it's a lifestyle change that will work for everyone, yet you're saying it's okay if it's not enjoyable. I mean I appreciate your dedication here, that's great, but I think a higher success rate would be probable for the general population if the changes made to the lifestyle were not as linear. People are apt more apt to follow a lifestyle that's enjoying to them. I guess my own experience has taught me this. I got to my lowest weight ever at one point (I believe around 125, I can't remember) after 4 months of following a lifestyle similar to the one you've outlined. But it wasn't the healthiest I've ever felt. I guess I don't mind a few extra pounds if I'm reaping all of the amazing benefits of foods that I'm eating. I'm in no way promoting an unhealthy lifestyle. In fact I'd say the healthier and more nutrient-rich the foods are, the better.

Sometimes I look at food like insurance for our bodies. There are so many out there (fruits are full awesome benefits) that I just would never feel like I was doing my body justice by excluding most of them from my diet. I don't know I just can't understand a diet that excludes things like blueberries or any of the other "super fruits". I mean I'm not suggesting an all fruit diet, but I don't know many doctors that would suggest fruit should play a restricted role in diet.

And there is a difference between calories and content, i.e. in the bread. Lol, I actually don't even eat bread because I don't like it much. But there is a difference. I sincerely encourage you to research. I think one of the problems of our culture is that we are so willing to trust labels. "Light Wheat Bread" "100% Whole Wheat"...and so on. I used to do that too. Like I said, I really have no idea what exact bread you are eating, so I can't say for certain what's in there. If you've found a good one, heck, more power to you.

I guess we are on two opposite sides of the fence on the night eating debate. Again...everyone is different. I get home from work between 8 and 9pm, eat, and go for a run around 10pm. If I didn't eat something before this, I doubt I'd have the energy to run as long. My body doesn't have a magic time that it starts turning everything into fat. You even say yourself....Caloric Deficit=Fat Loss=Weight Loss. !

I appreciate you engaging me on this and respect your dedication & opinions. This is the kind of stuff I love talking about. You do look great, that's true. But we have some disagreement, and that's fine.
-I like a glass of wine now and then and can factor it into my overall calorie intake for the day.
-I love fruit and feel it's beneficial enough to keep lots of them in my diet.
-Eating at night has never made me suddenly fat in the morning.
-I like cooking a variety of meals, that don't have to include oil, butter, or mayo.

Good luck to you on reaching your goals. I'm sure you'll have no problem getting there.

Oh bagotta, I am in no way saying that one shouldnt reap all the joy and benefits in the world of being happy with how they look when they are the size they want to be, or that it shouldn't play a role in motivation. I am saying, and we all know the type... that buys a new dress for an office party and says I am going to get into this dress if it kills me.. and tries every crazy weird diet on the planet to get into said dress , wears it to the party then goes back to do what they were doing before.

That is what I meant. Sorry if I made it come across otherwise.

So we're leaving for vacation soon....these are the last couple weeks I have before I wreck myself on vacation.

I'll post one last pic of my fat loss regimen on Friday.

Until then, wish me luck. I had a bad week last week...I had 3 cheat meals (including a WHOLE pitcher of margarita= 3K cals) and drank all weekend.

I did, however, make it to the gym EVERY day last week so I'm not too bad off, I just don't think I made any progress.

It's true what was said about your body getting used to the good stuff after a while. I used to be a soda FIEND and never liked water very much (gets boring after a bit). Now, I don't think I'm overweight by any means. I've always fluctuated between 125-130 which is okay for my height..although 115 would be ideal, haha. And I always hear that the first thing is to cut out soda, replace it with water, so I did. It does make a huge difference and it keeps me a little fuller. Anyway, my point is that I might have a glass of Coke every once in a blue moon, and it's gross now. I'm so used to water that soda just tastes thick and syruppy and my stomach SCREAMS at me for it.

I'll never give up my coffee though. Persist all you want...we're bros for life

Thank you for that information OhThereYouAre. But I also learned the interval training from the "Flab and Fat Away" of Dr. Rose Windale that has helped me lose some weight.

It's a changed way of life. Either you do it or not. Period.

For 90% of the population, hard work and consistency will work EVERYTIME.

There is no secret to losing weight - if you think what you're about to eat is bad, it probably is. If you think your workout wasn't hard enough, it probably wasn't.

The idea is simple. You have to burn more calories than you take in daily, so your body will start to eat your fat content for energy. Obviously, the more calories you burn, the quicker your results.

The best way to accomplish this deficit of calories is simply with both revised eating habits and a constructed workout plan.

To make the eating part simple, stick with a simple diet. It gets monotonous, but its worth it.

When I am trying to shed body fat this is all I eat.

Tuna/Peanut Butter/Light wheat bread/Salad/Grilled Chicken Breast/Bananas/Granola Bars/Cereal/Water/Protein Shakes/Skim Milk. All the fresh veggies are fair game. If its not on this list, I don't eat it.

My workout regimen - Intense Cardio on the elliptical or bike or running for at least 30 mins daily. Yes, daily. Every day. Watch the pounds melt off. Weights help a lot, but i'm trying to keep this as simple as possible. Weight routines are much more detailed than just saying get on the treadmill and run for 30 mins.

You do that for 2 weeks straight and you will see a noticeable difference - in your appearance and your mood. Your grocery bill too!

After you start seeing results, it becomes addictive and you get to a point where you don't crave food because you know it will ruin your progress.

These things are the devil -

Fast food.....any. Read the nutrition facts everywhere you go - you will so surprised to see what you are actually taking in. If you want to succeed, don't go out to eat.

Soda - Empty calories. 140 of them in a 12 ounce coke. Don't even drink diet - it makes you crave the real stuff.

Carbs - Carbohydrates are the body's source of energy. Bread, cereal, grains, sugars. When your body has an excess of carbohydrates that haven't been burned, it will convert this into fat. As a result, don't eat carbs past 7pm or you body will be manufacturing fat as
    you sleep.

Alcohol - OUCH. No beer....pure carbs. No fruity drinks - pure sugar/carbs. In addition, the intake of alcohol increases the body's estrogen levels which makes it more conducive to
storing fat. In addition, drinking usually lowers your inhibitions and will cause you to eat poorly. If you are going to drink, drink vodka and diet tonic water. About 70 cals per drink.

Things i've seen people do that kills their progress:

Eating more - Just because what you are eating seems healthy or low cal, that doesn't mean you can eat MORE of it. Calories are calories...and what you are trying to do is reduce them!

Cheating - You can have 2 cheat meals a week. That's it. Most people will rationalize and say, i had a hard day at work I deserve this. Do you deserve to wreck your progress? Do you deserve to be frustrated with what you are doing? No. Don't cheat. You're only cheating yourself. No excuses, get it done.

I am not a dietician, nor am I in the medical field. However, I have done a lot of reading on my own and i'm just telling you what works for me. It will work for you as well. Good luck.

Very nice post, man. I love the KISS mentality.

    One comment on this.

In my experience, especially when dealing with relatively lean women who are trying to get leaner... they have a tendency to over-do things. They'll limit calories too much and/or exercise too much.

This tends to really throw the body out of whack on various levels.

While your statement is correct... I think it's important to add the caveat of, "The idea is not to beat your body into submission. Your body has a limited ability to deal with stress and over-doing it is a real possibility."

I'll add in agreement with you though, most people don't work hard enough, so your point stands.

Tuna/Peanut Butter/Light wheat bread/Salad/Grilled Chicken Breast/Bananas/Granola Bars/Cereal/Water/Protein Shakes/Skim Milk. All the fresh veggies are fair game. If its not on this list, I don't eat it.
Bless you man. I'd go nuts.

My list looks a little something like this but it varies:

Chicken/turkey breast, fish, lean ground beef, top round steak, pork tenderloin, eggs, low/no fat dairy, protein powder, nuts, natural peanut butter, avacados, fish oils, extra virgin olive oil, whole wheat breads and pastas, oats, loads of fibrous veggies, fruits, and what some would consider unhealthy as long as I can fit it into my calorie and macronutrient goals.

I hate rigidity. That said, it's certainly an individual thing... to each his own.

Carbs - Carbohydrates are the body's source of energy. Bread, cereal, grains, sugars. When your body has an excess of carbohydrates that haven't been burned, it will convert this into fat. As a result, don't eat carbs past 7pm or you body will be manufacturing fat as you sleep.
    This I disagree with entirely.

You can't create something out of nothing. If you're in a net caloric deficit, eating carbs after 7 pm isn't going to make you fat. Insulin in itself can't create mass.

Your thread is interesting, I'm new here, and I don't have much knowledge about carbs, calories, etc. that people talked about here. But I like your post. I am not that surprise by the information you have given, I'm much surprised to the result you showed in your pictures.
