Question Needing suggestions for food choices and weight loss

I stepped on the scale this morning and am up another pound!! This has to stop right now. I am 37 yrs old, 5'8" and 186 pounds as of this morning! I am tired of this battle. Over the last 17 days I have done the elliptical 12 of those days. I workout for 30 minutes on level 6. I average about 2.55 miles and 315 calories. I am wondering if I should be switching it up a bit and doing strength training one day and the ellip the next. Any suggestions?
I also sat down this morning and figured out my breakfast calories and was shocked to find out that my 2 pc toast and my foofoo coffee adds up to 698 calories! I had no idea!! The coffee alone was 378 calories! I am working my buns off on the ellip and it's not even cancelling out my coffee!! Needless to say I am going to switch my coffee for some green tea (0 calories) but am wondering what to eat for breakfast. Eggs?

I would appreciate any suggestions you all have to offer. I am ready to be healthier, thinnier, and more confident about myself!

Thanks so much!

Default Losing weight can be easy!

It really can. You just got to find a diet that works for you. Mine was the Elite Hollywood Weight Loss I found on this website:

I've lost now 40 pounds and only have a few more to go. I am so happy! I had to buy new clothes though. But it's great. I think my Metabolism was all messed up, but once that was better, the weight just fell off. I lost 12 pounds one week alone! So if you're like me, try this diet too. Just get it from the website I told you about. The author of this book is a Nutritionist who tells you the foods you should eat. It'll work for you too.

From my experience, you definitely need to add strength training into your workouts. Cardio alone won't burn the fat off. I put a post up under fitness....Calling all fitness gurus.....you should read some of it. Someone gave me some really great advice about losing weight.
But everything I read and know says to combine cardio with weight training to produce the results. You also have to cut your calories, and eat well. but we all know that. I drink plain coffee with powdered creamer and splenda. The calories are very low. And drink lots and lots of water.
Good luck!! I'm with ya on losing weight. I'll be 35 next week, and I got tired of just accepting my size. I gained weight after an accident years ago, then some more when I got married, then some more when I had a baby. I made up my mind to change it, so thats what I'm doing. I work out 5 to 6 times a week, combinging cardio and weights. I feel stronger, but haven't seen much of a difference yet. Though, I've been told it takes longer than a month to see results. So I push on...like you, I'm ready to be healthier, thinner, and more confident!

Along with your cardio workout, you should also have weight training. You also need to have a low-calorie diet. Less calorie intake then burn more calories.

You can browse the internet for suggestions on low-calorie foods. I prefer to search recipes and food suggestions over the internet rather than the fad diets which only work during the first or second week. Afterwards, you're back to square one.

I've found that keeping a food journal to be the only way to really keep track of what you are putting in your body. (pm me and I can forward you a link to a great site for tracking all your foods)

Basically you want to choose foods that aren't on a specific diet. Just healthy, balanced eating. Something you can maintain for a lifetime. It's the only way to KEEP weight off.

Lean proteins, fish, eggs, chicken, etc. Lots of fruits and vegetables. And limit junk foods to a once-in-a-while treat.
If you like lattes, have skim or soy milk and get the smallest size. (no flavoring or sugar)

Think about balancing every meal and snack. So for breakfast try an egg, a slice of whole grain toast and a piece of fruit with lowfat yogurt.

Lunch could be a salad with tuna or chicken (careful with dressing) and fruit.

Dinner could be a piece of fish with brown rice and steamed veggies.

Keep track of your calories and you'll see where you are eating junk foods or too many calories pretty quickly.

Good luck.
