OK ladies and Gents, I am seriously considering having weight loss surgery and I am trying to figure out what would be the best option for me. I came to the realization when I went down to visit my new in-laws and come to find out that when we went to Universal Studios I cant fit onto a roller coaster...... I felt so embarrassed...... So any who..... Just looking for some answers and all. Thanks
Before you criticise someone walk a mile in their shoes and then that way if they get angry they will be a mile away and barefoot

I personally have not had either surgery, but my aunt had gastric bypass a few years ago. It did wonders for her. My husband is going into the medical field, and he told me that there are problems with the lapband slipping, so he said gastric bypass is the better one. Hope this helps!

I really encourage you to exhaust other options first. All surgery is dangerous and shouldn't be undertaken lightly. You didn't get where you are overnight and won't resolve it quickly no matter what path you take. Healthy living for a lifetime will serve you and your entire family better in the long term. Start with a complete physical, a visit with a nutritionist and some education about how your body works?

I know about 6 peeps who have done the gastric and all have had good results. For me the only drawback would be the new limits on what I can't eat. I looked into lapband and then they told me I couldn't have rice, pasta or bread....... YIKES! I don't know how I'd ever give the bread up.... that just made me so sad! Anyway I know eventually I will go down one of those paths as well..... just not sure when. (((HUGS))) I hope you are able to get all the info you need to base your decision

Yes, definitely try other options first. Your doctor will tell you to anyway, most likely. Gastric bypass surgery is a last resort. Check out your library for good books to get started, like nutrition and exercise books. I am reading Body for Life for Women right now, and so far, it's a good read.
