When you go to sleep at night your metabolism slows to a crawl... it doesn't kick start again until you eat... the closer you eat to when you wake up - the faster your metabolism will burn for the day. If you can't stomach food first thing, how about a cup of juice? You don't have to have breakfast for breakfast... you can have a 1/2 sandwhich and peice of fruit, etc.

Studies have shown that a high percentage of obese persons skip breakfast on a regular basis. Before I lost weight... I would ALWAYS skip breakfast... then my apetite would kick in the late afternoon evening.

Not eating first thing leads to a sluggish metabolism, then eating later in the day causes all the food you eat to stick to you.

Weight issues and metabolism aside... your brain functions better with food in your body in the morning. Like I said try juice or a nutritional shake , or force yourself to eat a piece of bread, anything... is better than nothing.
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.

Okay, this morning I ate something small, 2 slices of bacon. Probably not the healthiest thing, but I was cooking for the kids. I made a smoothie, drank about half of it and put the rest in the fridge. Having a cold is making it difficult to start. Shortly after that I made me some hot tea, which I hadn't done in a very long time. And actually drank 5 cups of hot tea today, with honey. I went to the store and got 3 different kinds. My kids each had a cup tongiht at bedtime. They enjoyed it. Usually they will ask for hot cocoa 1 to 2 times a week. But this was something different. My mom drank hot tea while I was growing up and I used to do that with her sometimes. Just over the years, I guess I just forgot about it. Tomorrow I'm going to try some hot cereal instead of the smoothie since the temperature has dropped again.

    Thumbs down

Many persons find if they start making green smoothies a regular part of their diet, their appetite for junk food essentially disappears. We crave junk food (especially artificial sweets) because our bodies are actually missing certain nutrients, and the right green smoothie combo can really turn that around...

I've been having a green smoothie the last few days. I feel pretty good. I have been putting fresh spinach in with my smoothies. It was interesting at first. But I realized now have bad I've been to myself in that area. It's so easy to fall into a unhealthy routine. I don't fry any foods though. And I don't eat alot of red meat. If I do, it is very lean. I don't crave alot of sweets, although sometimes something that is salty. I do not drink colas, or coffee. Mostly water, tea, and recently soy milk. I think the weather here has me a little down. It's dreary. And cold. And wet. I've been spending sometime online trying to find some healthier recipes, but alot of them had expensive ingredients. I would like to just find something simple to eat. I guess I could start with some cabbage soup. I remember my grandmother eating that during the week, cold and hot. I think I will try that tomorrow. I'm not going to give up easily. This is an important investment to me. Feeling better physically and emotionally.
