I agree with Sourpuss. We need carbs to fuel our bodies, just not too much that they get stored.
I am also not into all-protein diet. I am going crazy telling people to BALANCE their DIET, CARDIO and STRENGTH TRAINING! lol...
If you "starve" your body of the nutrients/fuel it needs, you are slowly depleting your health.

No carb seems extreme... and for health, balance is best.
However, to get some significant performance results, you could apply some tricks to 'push' your body into applying fat for energy...
For example, you can go lower carb for a couple of days to get your body used to burning fat for energy.
Then after 3 - 5 days, do 1 or 2 higher carb days to give your body a little 'shock' in terms of a different type of energy input.
If you exercise as well (particularly some resistance or weight training), it won't matter, because on the lower carb days you'll use up your glycogen, which means that if you eat carbs on a higher day the chances that they get stored as fat are minimal, because your body will first replenish its glycogen stores.
And if you really want to kick some butt with this little scheme, you make the low-carb days also lower in calories, and the higher carb days a bit higher in calories.
And make sure you eat plenty of vegetables, especially on the lower days. A couple of pieces of fruit on the lower days is fine too, just don't take bananas or starchy carbs.
Starches on the higher days is fine.
This way you'll see that you can keep on losing fat for as long as you want actually... Your body will simply never adjust itself to your 'diet', because you keep changing things around.
So you can keep on losing fat until your satisfied. It might not be the *fastest* of plans, but it will be steady and you'll lose only *fat* and not lean mass.
But by the way, this only works well if you exercise regularly too.
You can't live without carbs. It's important in your diet because it gives you the energy for the entire day.
Well, technically, you can, because your body will simply adjust its energy systems and go into ketosis or create glucose out of amino acids. You can't live without carbs. It's important in your diet because it gives you the energy for the entire day.
It's just that it's usually not the best way to go, because you'll feel like .
But *no* carbs is actually virtually impossible. I mean, even green leafy vegetables are technically carbs, be it fibrous carbs and not sugary or starchy carbs.
So I can't imagine how anyone could do on *no* carbs *whatsoever*.
But technically, anyone could eventually do on a diet consisting of protein, fat, and vegetables only, without any common carb sources like fruits and starchy carbs.
