I'm a petite, short waisted woman with long legs. I'm very physically active, cardio 3-5 times a week, I eat very little refined sugar in my diet, I eat lots of fruits, veggies, beans, lentils, quinoa. I drink lots of water. I have what I consider to be hereditary cellulite. My mom never had it, but her two sisters though thin, suffered from a tremendous amount of cellulite on the backs and sides of their legs. I've been struggling with this since I was a teen on both my legs and butt.

It's weird because my legs are toned, and firm in every area except where there is cellulite. It's like globs of fat under my skin that I just can't do anything about. I've tried massaging with a brush before and after shower. I've tried some of the "anti cellulite" creams from walmart.

What else can I do? This totally inhibits my comfort in wearing shorts. I've seen some people tone up cellulite with intense cardio, but I already do that. I've looked back at old threads regarding this, considering trying that arbonne cream someone mentioned.

    ANY suggestions?

Honestly, the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me is Bikram Yoga, a 90 min intense yoga session in a room heated to 105-110 degrees. It is rough stuff, but the heat flushes out the toxins and water retention in order to keep the fat cells from "puffing' up. Go at least ten times in a month, and it make take a month or so to see improvement, but trust me, it does work.

Are you doing weight training along with the cardio? If not, get some ankle weights... attach them and do some leg lifts with them while you are on all fours. If you look up butt firming exercises on youtube you can see some of the various techniques. THEY WORK!!!

You should do some strength training. Too much cardio without strength training would cause you to lose the lean muscles and keep the fat. Balance your cardio activities with weight training and core exercises. Bosu ball exercises also help a lot.

Currently I'm doing Hip Hop Cardio twice per week which includes high intensity cardio but also squats, lunges, fire hydrant leg lifts, push ups, mountain climbers, plank jacks, etc. It's one heck of a workout. On the other days, I'm doing various p90x routines. Some are high cardio, some are strength training. I haven't been doing this long, so maybe eventually it will help.

Girls it's frustrating. I have great legs, and can't show them off due to the unsightly clumps!! I've never tried the hot yoga, I don't even know if we have that here, but I will definitely check. I've read that something like 80% of women suffer from cellulite, but my aerobics class is primarily college students (I work at a University) and let me tell you, I look, and MOST of them don't even have a dimple. Grrr. haha

I suppose I'll try to incorporate more "weight/strength training" into my routines, as nothing else I'm doing seems to be lessening it at all.

Sounds like you're doing the right things. Could you be dehydrated?

I drink alot of water, but who's to say it's enough? I would say I drink between 40 - 60 oz of water a day, plus two cups of hot white (decaf) tea. I FEEL like I'm drinking enough, but maybe I'm not. I know for some women cellulite is hereditary, and I think I'm one of those. But there's GOT to be something to at least minimize it. Perhaps I shall soak ace bandages in coffee and wrap them around my legs. HEHEHE!!!!

Massage helps too... getting deep tissue massages to your butt and thighs for extended periods of time, enlist your boyfriend lol... I'm sure he'll love the task and its much cheaper than a spa!!

PS I fully understand your frustration with something minor preventing you from showing off something awesome.

For the first time in my life my abs are... freekin awesome lol... not even as a teenager have I ever had the definition I do now. But I have unsightly stretch marks on my tummy so i would never feel comfortable showing it off

HD, I want to know how you did it. I am currently working on mine and I am getting results but not as fast as I would want. Maybe you could share me some ideas. ( I also have stretch marks - but I will worry about it later - my focus: ABS first.)
