Hello everyone! I'm new here and want to take some time and introduce myself. My name is Skye and I live in the land of skinny, tan and bare bodies (aka Hawaii!), LOL. I hope to gain some good advice as well as share my stories and any advice or experience I can give on these forums

I am 4,10 and weigh 127lbs at 26 years old. I have been to the doctors numerous times about my weight since being told by him that my BMI is in the 'Overweight' category. This doesn't concern me too much. Since my senior year in high school my weight has fluctuated plus or minus 20lbs.
Two years ago while my husband was deployed I stopped taking the pill and lost about 17lbs in 3 months and all I did was walk on the treadmill for 20min 3 days a week. Of course when he came back I started back on the pill and gained "happy" weight, so I'm topping out at 127lbs again. We changed our style of eating and now focus on whole grains, low or non-fat foods, smaller portions, eating/snacking 5 times a day, and drinking lots of water. Two months after the change in eating and still no weight loss. So for the past few months I've started exercising 4 to 5 times a week - cardio every time and weight training 3 times a week. Still no weight loss or loss in inches I should add that I stopped taking the pill about 3 weeks ago since it helped the last time.

    I'm SO frustrated!

What am I doing wrong? I don't feel like age should be a factor since I'm only 26, but could my metabolism have slowed down that much in 2 years? How can I boost my weight loss?

Any advice or experience would be lovely! Thanks for reading

Erg! I feel your frustration. Honestly, you are doing everything right and I hope that you don't stop just because you aren't losing weight. I hope you make this a permanent lifestyle change. The pill could definitely be the culprit, I know for me I gained 15 pounds that I could never lose no matter what I did. Then went off and in a matter of 3 months I was down 10 pounds. Maybe just give it a good 4-5 months of being off the pill and keeping up with the working out and eating right (like I said, I hope you keep that up for life) and see where you're at.

If you go off the pill though, remember that you're unprotected! And any other hormonal birth control is going to give you the same side effects unfortunately. Are you ok with using condoms?

Thank you for the encouragement I do believe this is a lifestyle change for the better and will be life long. I remember thinking 'man, I wish I grew up eating like this!' I'm going to give it a few more months off the pill like you said. I'm sure I just haven't given it enough time. Go figure I want the results now! And the day I stopped my pills we bought condoms. I love kids, but I want to drop some weight before getting prego and putting it back on!

Losing weight is not a over night process and you can not expect instant results. Plan your diet perfectly that no high calorific food is taken and avoid junk food also. Eat healthy fruits and vegetables, salads, juices etc. Exercise for sufficient time. It is better to take suggestions from the nutritionist while designing your diet plan.
