So I've been doing research on weight loss, exercise, and eating healthy. Next week, I plan on getting a gym membership and taking control of my life. Yay, good for me and all, but what's the point, right? Well, when looking through all of these forums in various places on the internet, I hear lots of people- especially women!- talking about how, despite losing a lot of weight, they still have problems with baggy skin. This has me so petrified that I'll be in that boat once I lose my weight. Which has me asking: are there any specific body types/previous weights that sort of make baggy skin are guaranteed result?
Myself, I'm 5'3 and about 180-190. I know that's relatively large, and I agree, but I also have a larger frame and carry my weight well, so it's not all fat. A friend tells me that you only have issues with baggy skin when you lose large amounts of weight very, very quickly, and while I imagine I'll lose 15-20 pounds pretty quickly, I don't think 40 pounds will impact my body in such a manner. I'm still pretty nervous about it, so I figured I'd ask a community targeted to women who understand our bodies better than a generic healthy/weight loss forum. Thanks in advance!

How old are you? I ask because the younger you are, typically, the more elasticity your skin has and can facilitate weightloss without loose skin easier. But as long as you lose weight at a reasonable pace and work out with strength training... losing 40 pounds shouldn't make a mess of your skin.
Your friend is right... Loose skin generally comes from losing massive pounds
Scars remind us of where we've been...they don't have to dictate where we're going.
