    Default Frustration!

Hi everyone!! I am new to this site and have been quite frustrated with my health and weight loss/maintain. I am a college student, 5'3 and currently 116 pounds. I had been maintaining a steady weight of about 111-113 pounds for about the past year and a half, and all of a sudden my weight has increased. I have just begun working out 3-5 times a week. I take aerobics classes, kick boxing, spinning, weight training, ect, for the past three and a half weeks.

As soon as I began the working out is when the pounds came on. I know that many will say that weight changes each day, and that I am probably not watching what I eat. A major problem that I have is eating too few calories a day, around 1000.

I would love to get back down to my previous weight of 110 or 111, but no matter how much I work out or watch what I eat, I cannot seem to drop down.

Does anyone have any suggestions such as increasing calorie intake, or if the new work out schedule has to to take an effect on my body? Thanks so much!! Id love to keep up with a thread!!

So far today I did intensive spinning for an hour and have had 1 serving of Special K cereal with half a cup of 1% milk (because we were out of fat free ) -- about 175 calories

for lunch i plan on having eggwhites with a slice of toast. If anyone has any good ideas for a diet plan I could follow to drop the stubborn 5 pounds that would be fabulous!!!

You're not eating nearly enough for your level of activity! No wonder your body doesn't want to give up what it's got.
Aim for around 1800 calories a day for the next week and see how you feel. Your body needs that energy to rebuild after working out. If there's not enough there, it takes the good stuff (muscles, organs, etc)
Your breakfast today should have been the cereal AND the eggs and toast. Try for 3 meals of around 400 calories and 3 snacks around 200 calories. With a balance of good carbs and protein.

By the way, you are a healthy weight for your size. You should focus more on over all health rather than weight loss.

I don't think I'd give a second thought to gaining 3 to 5 pounds. That could be nothing more than water weight.

However, you mention weight training and other various forms of exercising. I'd expect you to be gaining muscle.

As sourpuss said you should be more focused on over all health rather than weight loss.
There is a method to my madness ........ I just haven't found it yet.

Jeez! i thought it would be easy to increase my calorie intake.. i mean, I love to eat. So then after dinner I added up everything I ate, and it wasnt even at 900! and that was 3 meals and a snack. I really want something sweet for a treat, does anyone think that Skinny Cow ice cream sandwhiches are ok. I mean they obviously arent healthy, but they sure do taste good and will increase the number of calories i ate!

If you want good calories and a sweet treat, try a peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread.

I am so annoyed. I have increased my calorie intake to a reasonable amount, eat a good breakfast each day, and have continued to work out, and am only gaining weight. I dont know if it is partly because of my birth control pill or what, but it is incredibly annoying.

I began my day off with a bowl of oatmeal with strawberries
Took an hour long spinning class
Had an egg white and cheese omlet

Would homemade Chili be a good dinner? It has been about a month of intense work outs and watching what I am eating and nothing is working.. advice?

How do you feel and does your body look? At this point, your body should be pretty comfortable at the weight it's at. You should just be toning and improving your fitness. If you feel good, then that's the key. Birth control, in my experience will add about 5 pounds, but that shouldn't matter at your size and your activity level. If you're working out you'll gain muscle so the scale isn't a good judge of your progress.

I surprisingly do not feel much more fit at all, that is what is really bothering me. I do not feel more tone, just more bulky. I have been running, biking, and doing aerobics, with some weight intervals in the classes. It has been almost 4 weeks and I thought I would have more progress at this point. It isnt as if the classes arent strenous enough, they feel like amazing workouts. I sweat alot, ach the next day, and really feel like I am getting a good workout, I just am not seeing the results.
