Start with small steps. I know the big problem a lot of the moms I know have are snacking everytime your child snacks or feeling like you need to finish their meals. Don't do itTry to incorporate lots of fresh fruits and veggies into your diet. If you're not a huge vegetable person, it's good to kind of "sneak" them in to start. when you make spaghetti, add some mushrooms, broccoli, and/or whatever else you like... You can add a cup or two of veggies chopped small which will make your meal more filling and also get some good nutrients.
Be sure to drink lots of water. Avoid sodas and anything with sweetners. Eat lots of whole grains instead of refined sugars. Pick whole grain pastas and breads instead of regular pasta and white bread. Track what you eat every day. It's amazing how we forget the extra condiments we're using or small candy bar we ate or the extra serving of this or that.
Move around as much as you can. Take your daughter out and play with her at the park. She'll have fun and mommy will get exercise too. If you can, try to take 20 minutes at least in the morning before she is up or in the afternoon when she naps or at night after she is asleep to do some exercise at least 3-4 days a week. There are lots of good workout routines that are only 20 minutes long that will definitely get you started.
Take small steps and you will feel less overwhelmed but you will also see results. Set realistic goals for yourself like 10 lbs in 4-6 weeks instead of a week. I won't lie and tell you it's going to be easy but you need to be healthy for yourself and also for your little girl.
Good luck!
