    Question Weight gain!

Become a member to remove this ad.
Okay, everybody seems to be talking about loosing weight.

I am looking to gain it!

    I'm just under 8 stone in weight and I'm 5ft 5.

I have a high metabolism, which means i burn calories twice as fast as people with a normal paced metabolisms.

I've been told by a doctor, that for my height and age, I am 1 stone under weight.
I know we should be happy with our size, but i would like to be a little heavier.
I have been asked countless times, "Do i suffer with anorexia or an eating disorder?"
    Which I don't.

I eat a healthy diet, and have even eased off going to the gym, in the hope i would put on weight.
    But no luck

    Any ideas or suggestions?

Well... I used to have a male friend who was slightly under weight and he went mad for protein shakes and foods containing protein. You can drink powdered drinks that they use in hospitals for patients whom have lost weight, where I am from they are called sustagen. You can buy them from the chemist and they work.

What kind of stuff do you do at the gym? Weights can help with muscle building where running burns fat...

You know some people are naturally thin. I think if you are healthy inside then I wouldn't worry too much! As women are, I am sure there are many who would like to have to worry about being underweight... Me included!

Oh and... Stones! I have no idea! had to go to Dr. Google for that one! My hubby's dad uses that measurement and my mum as she thinks it makes her sound lighter! LOL

Don't ease up on the gym, just change what you are doing. Focus on building strength rather than a lot of cardio.
Load up on protein. Get lots of complex crabs. Eat every 3 hours.

Don't try to gain weight by eating unhealthy foods. Just eat more calories of healthy foods. A good weight gainer is peanut butter sandwiches. Good, 9 grain bread (or something similar) and slather on a lot of peanut butter. One sandwich can be almost 500 calories.

I've tried those powdered drinks, but I didn't like them! I'm not pushed on milk and when i tried drinking them it just was not happening!
At the gym , i do weights.
Unfortunatly I don't like peanut butter!
I'm gonna try eat every 3 hours.

My mother is naturally thin, so it could be genetic too?

Has anyone any idea how many months it will take before i start to see a change in my weight?

Depends on what changes you make. What's your current diet like? When I was in my teens and twenties I couldn't weigh over 105 pounds no matter how much I ate. But in retrospect, if I had eaten the right things and done the right workouts, I think I would have been healthier.

    Well,
Morning: I eat my wheatabix and uaually have some toast.

Lunch time: a sandwich and cup of tea, maybe a bar of chocolate or crisps!

Dinner: Usually, mashed potatoes, meat and mixed vegetables.

Evening time: Another sandwich or make up some pasta

Most nights i dont sleep though, and I will eat very late at night, simply because I'm awake and I'l start to get hungry. Does that help or is it bad?

Well, you're diet isn't very balanced. That could be most of the problem. You need a lot more protein and fruits.
Try adding a banana to your breakfast. An apple to your lunch. Some sort of grain to your dinner, like rice or something. For your evening snack, instead of pasta try having a couple hard boiled eggs with your sandwich, some string cheese, almonds and/or yogurt.

    1. More protein. Try adding more dairy, eggs, cheese.
    2. More fruit. Have some with every meal.
    3. Good fats. Nuts

What kind of sandwiches are you having. Do you ever eat salads? You need greens as well.

Really? I thought it was okay, by having my 3 main meals per day!

I do eat fruit, but admittedly, not every day. I eat mixed fruit salads.
I don't like or eat salad.

I will try maybe scrambled egg and toast in the morning along with my cereal.
Add fruit in too, with all meals.

My sandwiches can vary, between ham and cheese, and tuna, mayonnaise and sweetcorn.
    I do eat all vegetables.

    Thanks

Ok, that's good then. Basically try to up your calories with nutrient-dense foods. Make sure every meal and snack has a good protein/carb/nutrient balance.
