Hello, I am a 22 year old in need of help and inspiration. I was overweight for most of my teen years and when I was 17 I developed anorexia. I lost so much weight and it felt good but I was not healthy. Years later, and after getting professional help, I have gained 40 of the pounds back. Now I have decided to start going to the gym and eating right to prove to myself that anorexia will not beat me and I can have a safe, healthy life. I have been going to the gym for 6 weeks now and I am not seeing any results. I go 6 days a week with a mix of cardio and weights. I am feeling discouraged and I am starting to remember how easy it was to lose weight without all this hard work. Ladies I do not want to take a giant leap into the past and resort to my old ways. PLEASE help, I need advice and work out tips. I have thicker butt, legs, and thighs. My stomach is flat but not toned. What do I do?!

Thank you for all that will listen. <3 Bentley

Hi I'm also new here. You are doing the right thing of going to the gym and doing some workouts in order to gain muscles and lose fat. You might as well hire the services of a professional trainer to help you with the routines correctly for they may be a problem. You can also check out some diet rankings in order to know what other diets are good for you. Gaining a well toned body won't be done in just an instant for it takes a lot of time and patience. Just stay relaxed and focused okay.

    Welcome to the forum Bentley.

Firstly, good for you, you recognise something you don't want to do again.

As Rachel said, you are doing the right things, although I would think personally, 6 times is a lot, your only giving your body one day of rest... Unless your a junky like "Sourpuss" one of our Mods, who loves it,

You don't mention your diet, meals ,breakfast, lunches, dinners and in-betweens...

It takes a few months to see results, all of a sudden almost like overnight, it all changes and you don't fit into your jeans anymore, they're too bid.

Also, don't weigh yourself daily, or weekly for that matter, scales lie... and you'll think your not losing weight... If you do weigh yourself do it, first thing in the morning and every second week.

Part of this is attitude. Instead of looking at your weight, focus on your health.
Don't think I want to be X weight, think I want to be a healthy weight. Don't set goals that involve are measured by a scale, instead set ones that are measured by performance. Push yourself for more endurance, doing more in certain period of time. For example if you run for 45 a day, try to get another half mile into that time and then a mile more in the same time.

For eating, focus on eating healthy food, don't stress if you mes up once in a while. A food diary helps some people while others find it stressful. How about setting a goal to learn to prepare at least two new, healthy meals each week? This focuses you on healthy food and on the pleasure of the preparation. Maybe invite a friend or two to try your creation?

How tall are you and what is your weight? What size are you wearing? When you think of "ideal" for you at this point, what weight/size is that? And why?

Congrats on getting a handle on the anorexia. Battle that booger, and don't you let it come back.
