    Hello friends..

some of you who have followed my threads might know that i had told about my husband who snores. i think he is suffering from sleep Apnea as he has all symptoms of it like, big neck, snoring , sudden struggle to take breath but recovers immediately etc.. he is obase and even i.

We have bought a thread mil to home recently as we both dont get much time to go for gym. we are vegetarians and done eat anything non vegeterian including egg..

but during office hours we both do a lot of sneaking and manytimes it consists of oily food. now we both want to readuce weight but need to see some quickly results initially to get motivated and continue the same, as in past whenever we tried walking dieting we dint lose weight even after 1 month so we discontinued..

Please help and it will be more helpful if someone has a proven plan..

I think you may be right - you're seeing symptoms of sleep apnea there. Yes, it's likely related to his weight, but suggest hubby see a doc for the sleep apnea now, then deal with the longterm problem of obesity. You probably know sleep apnea can lead to lots of other serious problems. It can also usually be addressed pretty quickly thru use of a CPAP machine every night. He may even find that losing weight is easier when he starts getting restful sleep. You might sleep better at night when you don't hear all that snoring and gasping too
    Good luck

Hun there is no proven plan...

These diet pills you want to try to supress your apetite, can make you feel edgy, anxious, moody... I think you would be wasting your money.

Ask yourselves, "why" are you comfort eating, you know eating and "hiding", "sneaking" is an addiction... But usually all addictions are because we are not happy with our lives, stress, jobs, having trouble coping, so it's that that you have to change, in order to then see food as interesting, wanting vegetables, good foods, because they taste good, attitude changes.

Write a list of everything your both not happy with and then solutions to change those...

    That's your first step, honestly.

Most importantly, don't give up on trying.

    Never give up.

For instance, the fact he snores may mean that you can't sleep, and as such your tired, therefore, not in a happy mood, plod along all day, feeling tired, the food, "fatty food" makes you feel better.

Solution? Firstly, maybe try sleeping in another room for a full nights rest, every third day, have your husband seek professional advice regarding his apnea, it can be dangerous if he doesn't wake himself up, ...

I am sure you will find alot on your list both of you...

And, to see yourselves "thin" cut out a model type person you want to look like (realistically), it may take 12 months to get there, but keep looking at that picture, put it somewhere whereby you can see it every day.

Look at your hair, make-up, change it, so when you look in the mirror your seeing a different person...

The secret to losing weight off course is to eat right, but also to eat small, 6 meals a day, white egg yolks, as an omlette with tomato for instance and 1 piece of whole meal bread with a smear of butter... An apple, 1hr later, salad and grilled chicken for lunch, lots of salad, small piece of chicken, a few nuts unsulted, 1hr later, fish or lean meat 200grms for dinner, vegetables, for instance, pork and white meat are the best, a small jelly, or another piece of fruit 1hr later..

And, water, 1st thing, and each time you eat, so you get in 8 glasses a day.

I think your eating because your not sleeping, and because he's not solving the problems, you both probably have other things your not happy with in life, not each other, and it's easier to just be with him on this, that being, eating...

1 has to change, for the other to feel that they need to..

    Try the list.

I ended my apnea by losing weight and doing soft palet exersizes to strengthen the muscles in the throat and pallet. First you need to be checked and confirm that you are dealing with the most common form of apnea which is caused by the muscles over relaxing in sleep. The other type which is caused by the brain not sending a signal to breath cannot be self treated so far as I know.
Here is a thread where we have discussed this

Thank you all for looking into my problem.

CW and Pat - As a first step i have taken an appointment with ENT doctor for my husband. the idea of making a list of problems that should be worked upon and make some lifestyle changes to improve our life is great, i have started doing it. though my marriage i just 8 months old i have lots to work on to make it move a long way happily.

WC - i read the complete thread about sleep Apnea and it really helped me to get a clear idea on diffrent options to solve it. thanks for the link
