I'm 20, I am struggling to lose weight. I don't know what to do, I do not know how to diet at all. I don't eat things with high calories, I haven't eaten chips or drank regular pop for about 2 years I recently stopped drinking diet pop and have been drinking 2 liters of water a day. I eat one meal a day and that's at dinner time. Not much meat is in my diet and people keep telling me I should eat more then once a day but I used to use this diet and I dropped weight fast and nicely I dropped quite a bit of weight and then I started drinking a little this year, anyways gained about 15-20 of it back and I need to lose that and more. I need someone that can possibly email me back and forth and teach me how I am spossed to eat? I don' t have much self control, but I am very detirmened and I will make myself stick to any diet and excersize I use my wii and play just dance. I was running for the lonest time but I was gaining leg muscle and I weighed myself and didn't like the muscle weight because I couldn't point out of it was from fat or muscle. I don't have the money to go to the gym. Pleasee can someone help me out? ;(

You have to eat more than once a day. You're gaining weight because your body goes into starvation mode and hangs on to every calorie you eat at dinner. Eat a healthy breakfast within an hour of waking. Then a healthy, small snack, lunch and dinner. Don't give up on running, it's great exercise.

I agree with Sourpuss.. Your body stores fat your starving it, so it's not shifting.

I do not know how to diet at all.
Part of what you are already doing is correct, drinking water, not drinking soda, not eating fatty foods.

    No takeaways
    No processed foods (canned foods)
Breakfast as Sourpuss stated is the key, to feeling fuller, longer during the day, whilst giving you energy and enabling that food to digest and shift as your walking, running, moving during the day.

Lean meat is fine, 200grms no more, white meat is better as red meat sticks in your stomach.

Salads, (dressing can be soy sauce & lemon juice), as much as you can and want.

Vegetables (no butter, no cream) tomato based sauces are fine.

Tuna, fish, grilled chicken, wholemeal breads, eggs, nuts, fruit, ....

Stick to the above type foods and keep going, it will happen...

When and if I have ever dieted as we all put on a little winter fat, I ensure I have breakfast, and snack, lunch and snack, dinner... The snacks are because we are used to eating more, and are changing that. They comprised of an apple, a handleful of nuts, for instance...

Thank you for the advice, I had looked up things yesterday and I actually had a sandwhich for lunch, just bread and turkey, I need to switch my bread to wheat but anyways. And a small dinner, potatos, peice of bread and 1/3 of my steak. I believe I can easily stick to that diet. I have a hard time eatting meat though, and typically the only kind I get is turkey meat for sandwhiches and stuff and chicken breasts so that should be fine. I love vegetables and eggs are one of my favorite foods, I learned to love them awhile back when I found out how many calories were in them, I was doing boiled eggs for a snack once a day before my meal only if I felt like I was going to pass out _ Typically when I have my salads I do a non-fat asian toasted sesame dressing, would I still be able to do something like that? We ALWAYS have salad stuff in this house, along with mushrooms, tomatos and broccli to put in it.
I wanted to ask what your thoughts were on sushi? I don't eat sushi that often but I do love it. And I think I already know this but keeping a good set sleeping sechudle is necessary? I'm trying to get mine back now.. and I'm wondering if my diet has anything to do with why after every single time I eat I crash, I get sooo tired and I just give in, I know that doesn't help for digestion, I wake up and everything's still not digested but the tiredness is overwhelming and I can't stay awake.
Oh and how much water should one drink in a day? I was on my 4th liter by 1pm yesterday and my husband snapped at me, telling me something about water intoxication. The recommended intake was 1.2liters depending on your body weight, I was really naushes because I do force myself to drink water and I think I was knocking it back to fast. Is 4 liters acceptable or should I go less?

And with news, I didn't eat breakfast within an hour of getting up because I woke up at 2am and was up, I just recently started cleaning my kitchen and asked my dad if he'd like breakfast, I made him 3 sasauges, 4 scrambled eggs and two peices of toast with butter (I should really put him on a diet too, he's 58, 280, 5'10) And I washed all the grease out of the pans and made myself 4 scambled eggs and a peice of toast with a little butter, and a small glass of milk, is this acceptable for the morning? The eggs were small I was only going to do 3 and 2 peices of toast, but I thought about it, carbs and butter wouldn't be good so if anything another egg would be better over the toast. I talked to my boyfriend a little bit more and he said something about when you toast bread it losses carbs? I'm going to google that but does anyone know about that either?

It's weird eating breakfast because I wasn't even hungry, now I'm just.. like I can't even explain it, it's been over a year and a half since I've eaten regurarly.

In regards to lunch I was thinking half a sandwhich, turkey, bread, no may no nothing else and a cup of pasta salad? Or a half a cup ? It is noodles with a little mayo I think, pesto sause, some chicken, olives, peppers and tomatos, I bought it yesterday before I went on this site, for lunch today.

You really need to get on a regular sleeping and eating schedule. That will really help you. Try to limit your self to one piece of bread in the morning (whole grain). Instead of potatoes and pasta with your dinner or lunches, have veggies or fruit instead. Even brown rice is better than pasta.
Sushi is pretty clean and good for you. Salads are great, keep up with that. Do you eat any fruits?

And you need to get some sort of exercise every day.

Make a commitment to get 8 hours of sleep a night. It is crucial.

Exercise at least one hour no less than 3-4 days a week. Not just taking a walk here or there. Build up a sweat, get your heart rate up, make your body tired.

There are other ways to get protein if you don't enjoy meat. Research foods high in protein, I think you'll be surprised at all the options you actually have. Ex. Quinoa, Beans

The internet is your BFF! Research foods that are very digestible. You want to train your body to digest quickly. By feeding it foods that naturally cause that, you're teaching your body to rid of the "sludge" that many people who eat unhealthy carry around in their intestines all the time. Eggplant is a good example of a healthy food full of nutrients you can eat that is very highly digestible.

Remember, not drinking pop and eating greasy foods and candy is a GREAT thing. But, there's much more to it. There are LOTS of other unhealthy nutrient-less foods you may be eating.

You can buy those little whole wheat (or multigrain) flat rounds that are GREAT for sandwiches, etc and are high in fiber and protein. Better than regular bread by far.

Veggies VEGGIES VEGGIES. Can't say that enough. Fruits too, but limit your fruit intake because though they have natural sugars they can still be high in calories. They are, however, a MUCH better alternative than sugary treats like donuts or cakes.

Really try to focus on learning, researching, and making good health your passion. It truly is VERY interesting and feels so empowering to learn what is actually good for you and what to stay away from. With lots of diligence and patience, you can achieve what you want to. But as the others said, skipping MEALS is NOT the way to lose weight. It is, however, the way to make your body very unhealthy and unhappy. And it tricks your metabolism into thinking it doesn't have to do any work, then it gets used to not doing any work....and when you start eating again, it doesn't want to do a thing for you.

Okay, I can defently replace my stuff, I need to buy new bread still. Carbs are my fall down lol. I get grapes whenever they are out, I like oranges but they are a hassle and I'm going out and buying apples the next chance I get because they are quick and easy and taste okay. Besides that I'm a berry person, we don't buy fruit to much it goes bad before we get to it, but if I use it purely for snack food then there won't be a rotting problem, mainly all I buy is meats to cook (chicken) a lot of vegetables then.. all my dad eats is junk but yeah.

Today instead of driving to the store I walked and I parked hella far when I went tanning. I've been up and down all day cleaning but that should just be everyday, I need to start working out again I know that but I have barely any energy so I want to get my sleep sechudle fixed before I start again.

Beautiful distaster, I've been trying hard to get my sleep but I seem to sleep in intervals of 4 hours. It sucks, bad insomia and well I'm getting married soon (4 days) so I don't see that stress wearing off anytime soon, but I am going to try harder. I woke up at 2am this morning and have been wanting to crash alll day long but keeping myself up to go to bed at a good time, it's really hard for me not to give into sleep though lol :P

I was doing 30minutes of cardio 3 days a week and weights, pushups everyday. I can adjust that to about an hour, it's a major push for my fat butt but I will do it. And I guess I should pick up my weights again ? and do my push ups? I was trying to tone my arms with my weights but I was still scared of that muscle weight so I stopped and was going to do it again once I lost the weight.

I've always wanted to try eggplant. Foods I know have worked the best for me, is broccoli, soo high in fiber, I am also on fiber theropy pills, you can take up to 15 a day, I was taking about 8 on and off through-out the week, that and I had tried fiber choice, but replacing snacks with veggies high in fiber is better, I still get food in my stomach and it's natural for my body. I was going to finish my last few bites of pasta for my 3pm snack but I think i'll eat a few peices of broccoli instead.

I am almost postive I have passed up great foods for my body because of my not wanting to eat and get fatter. We have a lot of quick fixes in our freezer though I don't over eat on any of it, heat up rice and frozen chicken strips aren't as good as making my own chicken breasts and some brown rice, another thing I will have to change is not being lazy and cooking for myself again.. Looking back on all that I wrote.. There's a lot that I have to change and it's not like I was really even eating before LOL.

What kind of flat ground things are you talking about? I'm not sure. Wheat and multi grain things is a huge change for me and something I'm really going to have to get used to. I got used to the taste of diet pop but I don't even drink that anymore, I heard that cutting back on it will help you drop water weight. I'm not sure if it's something that is in the pop or they meant substitute that and drink water instead, either way I thought it was making me re-tain water and I dropped it like a hot potato lol, but anyways yeah I realllly don't like the taste of wheat/multigrain things.. I like wheat thins that is about it lol. Would rice cakes be an okay substitue? I know they aren't as nutritious as the other stuff.

Vegetables are a thing I love, Cubcumbers, corn, brocolli, celery, coliflour, peppers, I've never really had a problem with vegetables, fruits yes, they sometimes gross me out and they can be too sweet. Grapes are very good thought and strawberrys things like that. Sweets are a funny thing, they've never caught my interest. I told my dad the other day if this house was filled with nothing but cake, ice cream and cookies, I'd starve to death. I can't stand sweet things, I get sick of ice cream after two bites, cake it's worse. When I'm having a craving during 'tom' the most i'd eat is a brownie no frosting.

I felt better when I dropped weight a year ago, It felt easier to get places, walk, like it was great. I see the difference now when I walk places and I really don't like it. If I acidently miss meals every once in awhile is it going to affect me much? I am so used to that starving feeling ALL the time, I can easily ignore it and it seems like it goes away and I don't think about food anymore, it's actually hard to tell when I am hungry today starting my eating normal routine.

Go back to incorporating the weights and push ups. Muscle burns fat, so don't worry about the number on the scale.
