Why wait though? When I start exercising, it makes me want to eat right... I stand there and think, why in the world would I want to put myself through this grueling workout if I just plan on going and sabotaging it with my food choices...

What I'm trying to get at, in a polite way, is that you are making a lot of excuses to not exercise. Please don't think I'm attacking you, I do it to. It's always....oh I'll go for a run tomorrow, or I'll hit the gym tonight....it's a vicious cycle.

Really, the only thing from stopping you from exercising....is you. Not diet, not cold weather, not your bike. Like all of us, the biggest obstacle is ourselves. You don't need a perfect diet to do jumping jacks, jog in place and do some sit ups and push ups today in your living room. All you need is the desire and motivation to want to be healthier.

I would say, until you get to the point where you've accepted the fact that you're just going to have to exercise on a daily basis then you should really just let the whole thing go. Because otherwise you're just beating yourself up over your weight. Everyone here has been giving you the same advice to the same questions for months. I know that I'm frustrated so I can imagine that others are as well. There's a big support system here and a lot of posters who have been in your exact situation that are willing to help you get going. But if there's always an excuse and defensive responses....pretty soon people aren't going to bother. And that's one less resource and support for you.

It has to start with you and it has to start now. Not in a couple of months, not tomorrow, not next week. Today. You'll feel so much better if you just dive in a make it happen.

If you are not willing to count calories, you won't be willing to keep track of points. As sp said, works for some, doesn't for others. As with everything else, you have to be committed to it.

Winged, since my time losing weight this summer, I have come across a BOUNTY of great recipes (not all chicken either) that are approved by a Wellness/Nutrition specialist that consults for the company I work for. If you would like me to share them with you, please let me know. I've got TONS and there should be something there that you can make... all you have to do is follow directions on the paper and know how to use measuring cups/spoons, these aren't gormet/complicated by any means. No time like the present to learn how to cook.

I think it may help you..

Since you seem to have trouble with biking (I have a feeling your saddle placement is off), can you do any routines at home... even just strength training (as indoor cardio can be difficult without equipment). Sets of pushups and situps, lunges and squats. I know 'like you said' you're focusing on diet right now, but diet without an exercise regime is not going to do much for you and you'll stay frustrated... really it all comes down to calories in, calories out when losing weight...

YES! If you want to lose weight without exercising, you pretty much have to starve yourself. If you don't want to starve yourself, you have to exercise. It's just basic science.

How is wanting to wait till my diet is a little bit under control before exercising an Excuse? I wanna get one thing figured out before I jump into something else. All of my workouts are done at night anyway, I don’t have the energy in the morning to do an hour long workout or anything like that, all of my energy is somehow more centered at night and that would be the only time I’d be doing it unless I get back on my bike but with the weather as it is, I don’t see that happening. To cold anymore and it gets dark sooner than it did. I will workout again, I have no doubt about it but I want some other things figured out first.

I’ve counted calories before. It’s a pain in the behind and makes me more obsessed with food than I am now. I hated doing it, it was a waste of my time and waste of paper as I wrote them down. Plus half the time I couldn’t even remember what all I ate if it was a day that I ate multiple things. I don’t like doing it, period, end of story and I don’t feel the need to do it again.

I looked up the weather where you live. Your overnight low is warmer than our daytime high all week. The 10-day forecast is sunny and in the 60s. How is that too cold to go outside?

You're not taking any diet advice, so the chances of you getting your diet on track any time soon is a long shot. Again, an excuse. I'm really frustrated here, I'm going for a workout. (it's snowing here by the way)

You're frustrated? I'm the one 50 pounds over weight thanks to my stupid pills.

I can't get one thing under control before jumping into something else? Everyone does things different you know, can't do everything the same. I'd like to get my eating habits in some sort of control before adding exercise into the whole thing. More than likely, after this week and starting next, workouts will be thrown in but I tell you what, the same workouts over and over again do get quite boring and I can't afford to buy any videos or even go to the gym. I can't afford a $5 fee just to get into the gym at the Recreation Center. If I could, I would have a gym membership but there again, I can't afford it.

As mentioned I have maybe 3 workout dvds that I even use. The ones I have of yoga I can't do, I don't have the flexibility and I've hurt myself with them times before so I don't use them. The other 3 I've already told you what they are and one of them I can hardly do any of because it's so fast paced.

Whatever, I guess i'm done here. I'll figure this out on my own like I have to done and failed. We'll see what happens. Don't know why I bother posting anything here, people don't usually reply to my posts anyway (outside of this thread). Oh and by the way Sourpuss, today it's cold and windy. Right now as we speak in my little town it's 46 degrees with winds upwards of 20 miles an hour. The next few days are supposed to be the same with nights dipping into the 20s which is why my mom had to disconnect all the hoses early this morning. I dont know where you are reading where I put where I am from so whatever.

Thanks for whatever little help I got. I tried to not get frustrated but when things are hard in my household as they are, some things just aren't able to be changed.

Wow, how very ungrateful to the great people here who have tried to help you. I'm not a moderator here, but for those who feel like they're wasting there time on a wonderful site like WH, feel free to find some other forum...

All you read into were the bits of advice you didn't like. I tried to tell you I was in the same boat (ignored), I tried to tell you options for your eating (scoffed at), I tried to give you recipes that helped me on my weight loss journey (ignored), I tried to give you suggestions for F-R-E-E exercises at home (ignored).

You see us all as picking on you because you don't like the advice you're being given. Why are we saying that you need to exercise AND eat well to lose weight? BECAUSE IT IS A PROVEN, SCIENTIFIC FACT OF LIFE. Go talk to your doctor, and ask him/her if a complete health plan that is just eating and no exercise is going to be conducive to weight loss... see the answer you get.

It's not that we aren't helping you. It's that you aren't helping yourself. You can't push this off on anyone else, doing so will keep your journey as stagnant as it has been for the last months (or years)... but we can't show you that, eventually you will need to see it yourself.

You've been given a lot of input here, if you consider it a waste or of little help than there is of no reason to further discuss it.

No one can help you but yourself, you can give all the excuses in the world until the end of time, you are the one that has to live with it.

If you find it such a pain in the rear and a waste of your precious time to count calories, then Weight Watchers will be of no use to you either as you have to account and calculate points off of calories, fiber and fat.

Maybe join a nutrition website and forum, maybe then, you'll see the advice that we have given is pretty much the same advice you will be given anywhere else, but by all means...
