Hi all i would like to loose weight and get down to my ideal weight which is about 10 stone but i have PCOS and im on anti depressants which has caused a lot of problems. i first started taking "happy pills" last xmas because something happened which caused the depression. Anyway i could not cope on these as i was meant to be on 2 of them aday but my weight went up very quickly which has made my depression worse so they were changed a few months later to another i have weighed myself since the change as im too scared of what i will see. before i needed the "happy pills" i manged to loose the weight and be 11 stone after being over weight as a teenager with the help of Metformin which is given t me for the PCOS and hormone imbalance etc what goes with PCOS. i know PCOS will cause over weight but i did loose this weight and i could tell, now i just feel really over weight which i know i am. last time i weighed myself i was 13stone and i really hate it plus i am a full time carer to my mother who has mobility problems so i just do not know what to do! any help?? ps i have back problems too and i am 23!

Eating lots of veggies and fruits do really help for weight loss program. I also have a technique when it comes to eating. I divided my food into 5 small meals a day. I don't starve myself but of course I still do it. Taking herbs is also helpful depending to which product you are taking. There are a lot ways to lose weight but the real challenge is how to look for the right program that suites your health condition and how you will keep yourself motivated until you lose weight.

Well I'm right her with you also taking anti-depressants.They can either increase your appetite or decrease it.
If it's making your eat more you should talk to your doctor.About trying another one that doesn't make you so hungry.
The way I loss weight was I started taking Metformin and it made me lose weight,But I also cut out the sweets.
So cutting the sweets and taking the Metformin. I lost a good 15-20 pounds along with working. I did housekeeping
so i was constantly moving and sweating. My period came back for the most and hair growth stoped. I wound up
getting depressed got on the meds, lost my job. And got put on antidepressant Here come back the weight and
period completly stoped. My advise would be get a good workout routine. Just for 30 minutes aday doesn't matter
what you do as long and you move and sweat. Get on the metformin if you have not already tried it.And
try and cut out either carbs or sugar. It's tought at first but very possible I did it and did not think I could.Good Luck

As a fellow PCOS sufferer who WAS on Metformin I am here with you. I met with a naturalopathic doctor and we revamped my diet. I was off the Metformin (my moods elovated on their own, I was not on anti-D's, but could have been) just by changing up my diet. PCOS symptoms have died down and even though weight is hard to get off I have been able to maintain it better.

Taking sugars out of your diet may help more issues than you realize. Good luck to you.

Here are 5 steps I suggest you can take to lose weight:
    1) Eat at least 5 portions of colorful fruits and vegetables. They provide essential vitamins and mineral as well as fiber to fill you up. The fiber also helps to prevent the absorption of fat into the body. Eat some fruit before each meal. This will make you feel half full and you are less likely to over eat.
    2) Drink plenty of water. The guide is 30ml of water for every kg of body weight.
    3) Cut sugary food e.g pasta, white bread, sweets and chocolate, biscuits and cookies, sweet beverages. They are refined and simple sugar which are easily converted into fat in the body. Go for whole grain and fruits and vegetables as your carbohydrate source.
    4) Eat more lean meat and protein from plant source. Digesting protein requires more energy than fat.
    5) Get active. 30min brisk walk everyday for at least 5 days a week. Endorphine, the feel good hormone is produced when you exercise. This will improve your mood.

Yes! +1 for fruits and vegetables as raw as you can! they saved me!! i dont eat meat i just eat heaps of raw fruits and vegies and ive lost so much weight. no calorie counting or anythign like that. this is what i do:

in the morning ill have a banana smoothie with a few ripe bananas and a few dates mixed in water... soooo sweet and tasty. better than a coffee for sure.
then ill have a massive fruit salad for brunch with as much of the fruits as i like. i love mangos and oranges and watermelon and bananas.
then lunch ill have a great big salad.
then i dunno, ill eat whatever fruits and vegies i like. i got some great raw vegan recipes that are soooo good.
and dinner is the same, ill whip up something like a raw vegan soup or a bunch of wraps. completely guilt free. i cannot reccomend enough!
