I am a 19 year old female and am having the worst time of my life trying to lose weight. I was an athlete some of high school and losing weight was a piece of cake, but when I hit college and was working full time, I gain 20 lbs. I successfully lost 10 of those, but now excercise nor diet can touch the other 10. It's mentally frustrating and exhausting. I've tried the SlimFast diet....no results.I am on a strict diet of 1200 calories now and exercise for 90 minutes each day. The closest I came to success is the Special K diet, but it left me starving. So now i've landed on Alli. I've only been taking it for 4 days, but I'm not reaping any benifits so far (not that I'm not optimistic about future results from this product).I just don't understand how I can be young and have been fit once before, but the mistake of gaining weight once has scared me for life. Will anyone please help?[/FONT]

hi When in Rome! I totally know how you feel. Dont worry there is always a way

it can be really hard losing weight when you're working full time! but dont worry, ive spent a LONG time researching weight loss and diet and i know we can do this.
tip 1: get off diet programs because they cost too much and dont work well enough
tip2: keep as hydrated as possible from water or watery fruits, not from teas and coffee
tip 4: dont eat too many grains, or anything that comes from grains, that goes straight to tummy fat
tip 3: eat much more raw fruits and raw or steamed or boiled vegetables. There is sooooo much good stuff about plants i cannot speak highly enough. ive bought recipes on how to make raw vegan meals and its amazing! they taste so much better than i thought, and they really strip the fat off. i was always struggling to get rid of that last bit but couldnt do it until i found fruits and vegetables. and there's no calorie counting either!
tip 4: get rest. this is important. dont work out every day. have a 2 or 3 days on, one day off. and get to bed by 10.30 every night. sleep and raw fruit and vegies helps so much to get rid of tummy fat! thats why demi moore's on the raw plant diet i just found out. no wonder, coz it works really really well

In place of the gluten rich grain, try Quinoa - it's higher in protein.

Red face I was in the same situation 10 years ago!!!

    Hi Rome!

OMG! I was totally where you are 10 years ago! I never had an issue with my weight until I went away to university where I gained 20 lbs. I jumped from diet to diet with no lasting results (lose 5lbs and gain back 7lbs) I started learning everything I could about weight loss and nutrition and I figured out that counting calories is completely pointless!

Losing weight is really about losing excess body fat and the only way you can achieve lasting fat loss is by consuming the right mix of protein, carbs and fat. I developed my own system and not only did I lose the 20lbs (plus 5% body fat) but I've kept it off effortlessly for the past 10 years!! Diet supplements can help you overcome some hurdles in the beginning, but you have to be careful because they can become habit forming, so please keep that in mind.

My program is called The Lasting Weight Loss System and I'm going to be sharing it through my blog in Jan 2011. (New Year's Resolution time ).

You can check out my site ahead of time as I have posted plenty of articles with great info and advice for women struggling to lose weight.
