That depends on a number of things. Your question is a bit too general to really be able to answer it.
what is the minimum amount of calories the body can take in daily and survive?

I was on a thinspo sight and it was giving tips on how to live on 400 cals a day

That is absolutely insane, the people who put up that site are idiots, insane idiots. You may be able to stay alive, barely, on that but you would start to suffer all sorts of health problems and would eventually undermine your health to the point that you would be at risk for a few side effects, like death.
Why would you want to become so thin that you could disappear? A well toned, muscled body is attractive, a rack of ribs isn't. How can you throw your weight around when you weigh nothing? You are a woman not a wisp.

people on the hCG diet are eating 500 cal a day...i'm not really for that.
it really depends. on my program, people eat 800-1000 calories a day but it's COMPLETE nutrition - protein, fats, carbs, fiber, vitamins and minerals. they get the rest of the calories from the body's own fat. even 300lb+ people eat 1000 calories, but since it's complete nutrition, the body burns fat instead of muscle for additional calories.
but i know people who might say 1000 calories is also ridiculous. they haven't met my clients, but i understand where they're coming from because i used to think the same thing before i did more research. again, it really depends.
what was in the 400 calories you were looking at?
Agree with WC. I'm sure you could search up in Guiness Book of Records and find someone who's tried almost ANYTHING.........doesn't mean you should or that it's smart, safe or healthy to do it.
Someone your size, you need probably anywhere from 1400-1700 calories a day I'd guess. This is what you NEED to maintain a healthy weight.
You've been laid up due to surgery, are probably feeling lazy and are getting less physical activity than normal........therefore you're getting into panic mode and feeling fat. You need to realize it's a feeling, it is not reality. Let yourself heal, then get back into your routine of physical activity. You're not fat, you're not getting fat. That's reality.
"Be what you're looking for."
"The next time you're thinking of kicking someone when they're down, offer them your hand and help them back up instead."
That would be your BMR (basic metabolic rate) plus additional calories corresponding to your daily activity.
To find your BMR, there are online calculators. Google "basic metabolic rate" to find them.
