    Default P90X vs. Zumba

Okay, so I could stand to lose about 60 pounds and while I have changed my diet to accomodate weight loss, I DO need to work out.

Now, I own both Zumba AND P90X. While I am not in any kind of shape for the latter, I have tried it and I like it. I have tried Zumba as well and like it. P90X states that it is for those who are regularly active and in moderate shape while Zumba is for those like me who are starting from scratch. I know Zumba is more fitting to start with, but what would be the harm in actually going through the 90 day extreme work out? Would there be any bad side affects?

    Frost,

a lot of that depends on your overall health. I would check with your physician to be sure. The great thing about P90X in my opinion (I too own both programs) is that it helps build a lot more muscle which will overall increase your resting metabolism and is also great for maintaining bone density. It also has Yoga to increase flexibility and Cardio and Plyo to work your heart. You should be able to do the P90X IF you listen to your body. You want to push yourself but don't do anything painful. There is a big difference between pushing yourself till your muscle is sore and pushing till you injure yourself.

If your physician says your okay, I'd probably try to do some of the P90X. Just start slow and do what you can do. I'd bet in a month or two, you'd be able to do full workouts no problem at all!

After a thorough consult with your PCP, I think I would start with Zumba in order to get yourself in better shape enough to be able to handle the P90X. I'm not saying that you can't "handle it" now, don't miss my point. The entire success of any P90X workout is the level of intensity that you are able to do it at for the full period of time each day. The more intense, the better your results.

Being motivated to get results is the first step...so congratulations on getting there. The next step is about changing your life....forever! Zumba and P90X are merely tools that help you accelerate your progression. They will NOT change your life....you must do that.

    Good luck with your journey.

I used to do P90X and while I did it 3 times a week it TOTALLY worked great. Only problem is, I got busy and stopped now I'm too lazy to get back into the routine. Uhg... You really do need a work out buddy to motivate you. They're worth their weight in gold. :S

is zumba with the Wii? If you own a Wii just dance 1 n 2 are both fun and if you get into it very physical. I love the P90X and you see results fast and feel great. You don't need to be as intense as the trainer they remind you to do what you can.
