    Hello!

I'm a 19 year old college student wanting to shed a few pounds and get in shape..Lately I've been feeling very sluggish and I've been gaining weight..My mom and dad have diabetes and my grandparent died of the disease I'm afraid if I keep on going this way I'll end up getting it quickly...My diet is horrible but I haven't the funds for much else I only eat fish for meat and nothing else I've been free of other meats for 4 years now. But it's the typical broke college student diet :/// I'm about 5'3'' and probably 130-ish pounds now I'm starting to get alot of belly fat and I'm usually around 120 lbs and 110 if eating correctly.

I've just found out my college has an awesome new gym and I was wondering how long should I exercise??? I'm willing to put in about an 1 hour a day or even 2...Would that be enough?? or should I change my diet and exercise?? I would like to get down to a weight were I'm happy andn feeling fit because now I'm feeling really unhealthy and going down a terrible road...

Keep it reasonable. Trying to start off with 2 hours a day will most likely get you to burn out. Start adjusting your diet, take out fried foods, processed foods, refined flour products and increase fresh fruits and veggies. Then start a reasonable exersize program including more walking and a routine at the gym. Work on establishing a habit of exersize first, then you can gradually increase it if you need to.

diet is way more important than exercise when it comes to weight loss. exercise will help you maintain your goal weight and help you de-stress, but you won't get anywhere if you exercise without changing your diet. people who stop exercising gain weight because they were still eating the same number of calories that they were while they were exercising. it's a lot easier to eat 350 calories than to burn 350 calories (which is the avg for one hour in the gym).

fish and meat are good proteins, what else are you eating?

start off by walking at least 30 minutes a day. once you get the hang of it, step it up a notch by jogging. that 30 minute walk or jog will help you a lot with your weight loss goals.

The key success to losing weight:
    1) Stay focus, be consistent and persist - follow your diet and exercise plan with the vision of who you ultimately want be
    2) Find someone who can be your whip to move you along when you slacken.
    3) Have a low calorie diet of high in fiber ( fruits, vegetable and whole grain ), lean protein, plenty of water, zero sugar from soda, sweets and deserts.
    4) Do anaerobic exercise such as weight training or circuit training as it burns 9 time more fat and the burning continues even when the exercise stops.
