    Some info about me:

Okay well when i was a child i was very skinny, short & very active.
Around the age 14-15 is when my major depression started. Well I have struggled all through high school with weight loss & it has made me feel physically & mentally like s***. For a long while i was 160 lbs & then suddenly during my senior year of high school i lost a whole bunch of weight not knowing how i did it! When i graduated high school in 2009 i weighed about 132 & today is dec 23, 2010 & i am back at 160 lbs!!!! I've tried weight loss pills, eating less, & even some workout kits or programs & either i gave up or those things just didnt work for me.

I'm starting to think that i will never be at a healthy weight ever again. I recently got a 3 month membership at a local recreation center that has a pool & gym in it & i just dont seem to have the energy or motivation to help me get there. I mean its just around the corner! everytime i want to go to the rec., i make up some excuse to NOT go... what is wrong with me? how in the heck can i get myself to stop being a couch potato & workout??!

By the way, thanks for letting me vent on here... it really helps & I'm sorry about rambling on lol.

Are you taking birth control pills or on any medication? I know when I was on bcp I could not lose weight no matter how hard I tried.... when I stopped taking them I dropped 50 lbs. without even trying to lose weight. Do you have any medical issues often times medical issues will add weight. What kind of foods are you eating? Do you drink a lot of soda? Eat snacks? Eat late at night prior to going to bed?

I do have to say I'm guilty of getting back into soda lol. I'm no longer on BCP but i was until like august or so then stopped. I dont think i have much of a bad diet but i do need a better diet. I was venting mostly but today i actually took the first step & went swimming the rec like i wanted! All i take for meds right now is wellbutrion. use to take zoloft, just got off of it.

Do you have any friends that you can team up with for weight loss? Sometimes it really helps to have a buddy-system, it makes you accountable, and having someone there to support and support YOU can be huge in staying motivated.

Eating right and exercising are going to be VITAL to weight loss... Just eating LESS won't do it, and going to the rec center every once in a while won't do much either. You need to get a game plan in order, filled with healthier food options and plenty of exercise, and you HAVE to stay focused and dedicated to it.. all the good intentions in the world won't help you lose the pounds if you aren't actually doing what you need to.

What do you eat typically (everything - breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, drinks)?
How often in a week would you say you get some moderate to intense exercise, and how long does your workout last?

i also suggest that you consult with a doctor or a dietitian/nutritionist to guide you on proper dieting and exercise

I appreciate all yout help (: Well i am going to really try to go to the rec a couple times a week or what not & eat & drink healthier things. I have tried the buddy system some point but it never worked. its hard going by myself though. my fiance said hed go but it just hasnt happened yet. I'm working on it, hopefully things work out. But the other day i weighed 158 & i was 160... i think i lost a little by not eating well lately.

The bottom line is that you have to want to be healthy, not just skinny. Honestly, you'll just have to force yourself for a few weeks until it's a habit, after that, it's a lot easier.
When you say 'I'm really going to try to get there a couple times a week and try to eat better'...what I hear is someone who isn't really committed. (sorry to be so blunt, I don't mean that in a bad way) You just have to tell yourself: "I will go to the rec center 4 days a week for a minimum of one hour. (and mean it) Plan your meals every week and stock up on healthy foods. Go through your pantry and get rid of any and all junk. Be proactive.

oh, and don't go to the gym with the mindset of losing weight. Go there to get active, healthy and get your body moving. Go to get sweaty and have fun. There's nothing worse than making yourself do something you don't want to do in the first place specifically to lose weight. If you don't see results immediately (and you won't) then you'll just give up and be more defeated.

Once upon I time I weighed 145lbs. August 2010 I weighed 225lbs becaue of depression. I like you, struggled to commit to a diet plan. I always gave myself a break and said "i'll start again on monday". Monday never comes. If you truely want to be a healthy weight you have to retrain your mind. Never look at anything as a diet or a work out. Its a lifestyle and make working out fun. Rule number one, put down any and all soda. Diet soda isn't any better. You need to drink alot of water. Also you need to eat often (about every 2-3 hrs). I always feel like I'm piggin out but its on fruits and veggies. Watch your calories and your protein. Find something active you love doing. The gym was a drag to me. I hated the feeling of sweaty people packed into a place like that. I went out and bought a bunch of dance games for my Wii because I grew up in dance classes. I love it and it never feels like a work out.
Bottom line, you can do it. You NEED to believe that. I never thought I'd ever get back under 200lbs much less get healthy. In 3 months I lost 30lbs, I'm officially under 200lbs and still going. Once you get used to your new life, the weight just falls off and you don't know it. The first couple weeks will be very hard but once you prove it to yourself, you will get excited to keep going

    good luck hun
