I am 23, 5' 7" and weighing in at my heaviest..EVER...175lbs. I didn't even weigh this much when giving birth to my son! I am in desperate need of HELP! PLEASE! I don't even know where to start! I have let myself go a good bit after getting depressed for awhile and I just really don't know what to do! Thanks in advance!

I am in the same boat. My son is six months old and I weigh more now than I did when he was born. I just can't seem to shake this weight. Now that Christmas is over and all the sweets are out of my house I am attempting to eat better and hopefully exercise more. I just hate that playing with my baby causes me to be so out of breath that I have to stop in the middle of playing wiht him.

If you belong to a HMO, they may have free dieting courses that will get you looking at the caloric content of the food and what is a proper portion. Nursing a baby can help keep weight down due to the nutrition going to the baby.

There are loads of ways to try and lose weight and the key to your success is to try and start off on the right footing. Remember weight loss is never easy and to look good and feel good you have to sacrifice some of the things you really like. But the trick of dieting is losing the weight you want and then keeping it off without being on a constant diet for months on end.

I think small steps are the way to go. Add activity. Even really small things like parking further away at a store, taking stairs instead of elevators, things like that help. Go on walks or a bike ride, do some strength training with bands or weights. Don't go on a strict, crazy diet that isn't maintainable. Start eating healthier and adding health snacks like fruit, veggies, nuts and things like that. For me, it helped to eat more often, as in having a healthy snack every couple of hours and reasonable meals. There's a lot of good information out there. Check out spark people, its a great place for info.

    Spark people is great!
Start by taking an inventory of your life. How did you get this way...and work backwards. Keep a detailed diary for a week or two and write down everything you eat and all your activity. I think the answers will be pretty clear. Then commit yourself to getting healthy, from the inside, out. Count calories (very important!) Keep a food and fitness journal. Clean out all unhealthy foods from your house, and don't bring any more in.
