They work by people buying into the "I want an easy way out" weight loss approach, and no it is not safe as many of them have not only zero research but lie about what is actually in the pill itself which makes them dangerous to take. Anyone who has been successful with weight loss will tell you that the success does not come from gimmicks, it comes from lots of exercise and a compete change in diet. No other way to have it done. There is no magic pill, no special powder, no infomercial weight loss miracle. It takes a long long time, effort, patience and determination.

Weight loss pills will not change the results of poor diet, lack of activity or other negative lifestyle choices and situations. You may, maybe, lose some weight but you may also do yourself some real damage and very likely will gain it all back. You didn't get overwieght by making good choices and being healthy, you won't correct the results by popping pills.

    1. Full check up
    2. Educate yourself on diet, exersize and general health
    3. Impliment changes immediately. Cut out ALL soda (inc diet) all fried foods, all refined flour foods, all sugar except what is naturally in fruits and veggies and start walking.

Have tried them before and personally didn't find them helpful, the side effects weren't great, also most of them work by making you go to the toilet a lot which is awkward, embarassing, uncomfortable, and really not great to fit around your schedule. As well as this, that kind of weight loss only works as a short term solution, like if you want to lose weight for a special day, and then will come back very quickly. They may help psychologically as you may think ooh I'm on weight loss pills so I don't want to ruin my diet, on the other hand, you may think well the weight loss pills are doing their job so I can eat a little more. Personally having tried them I'd steer clear. I found that I got headaches and felt quesy which meant I found it harder to excercise, and excercise does a lot more permanent good.

You didn't add the weight overnight so why are you expecting/hoping/thinking you can drop the weight "overnight" ?

The entire vitamin/mineral/supplement/weight loss pill industry is NOT regulated by the FDA, so they can print whatever they want on the bottle, put almost anything they want in the liquid, pill or powder and make any claims they want regarding results. The ONLY thing that will get thin is your bank account.

Same goes for weight watchers, jenny craig, slim fast, etc. Good results at first but more than 80% of the people in these programs are REPEAT customers. Why?

If ANY of this carp works then why are there so many repeat customers?

As all of my friends eluded to above in their respective posts, the only thing that is going to help you is LIFESTYLE CHANGES. You have to change your lifestyle and eating habits. What you eat, how much you eat and when you eat it.

Anything artificial is bad for health..thats plain common sense..why not try something healthier like drinking warm water with honey and lemon first thing in the morning??i've heard it works wonders!

I agree that weight loss is a lifestyle change and expecting results from supplements without a lifestyle change is pretty much a waste of money.

That said some supplements are scientifically sound but are meant to help you in conjunction with exercise and healthy eating.

As to supplements not being regulated, while I understand the frustration supplements are regulated by FDA but enforcement is weak. They are trying to do better but funding is low and there are a lot of bad products to crack down on. There are many good supplement manufacturers out there but its the bad ones that ignore the regulations and get all the attention because of their bogus claims.
