    Hi!

I never know where to start, I guess by telling you that I have Chronic Kidney Disease and I've most likely had this my entire life it runs in my family and I'm currently classified as Stage 3 status.

If you have CKD you'll understand that your energy levels are never perfect and sometimes a days full of work can be hard, and over tiring for some. i find that everyday is a struggle, I normally need a nap through out the day, I have very low iron and I'm also verging extreme obesity, or at least in my mind thats how i would classify it. I am 288 pounds the heaviest i have EVER been and with my heaviness along with CKD comes depression... I am not taking pills for my depression but i am thinking hard about it, for other meds im on a daily blood pressure/thinner to try and regulate my above average blood pressure, i'm currently sitting at 150/90 which is doing pretty good but it should be lower.

Anyhow... I ramble a lot, not knowing what information to share and what not to share... I am looking for possible someone else in the same boat and how they do it?

I'm starting a new work out routine, i work out every second day... seems to make things easier then working for three days and then off two .... I would like to get up to an every day work out session but right now because of my issues Im dealing with I am working out every second day for about 20 minutes and my goal is work that to 40 minutes like it should be... but anything is better then nothing right now.

I'm a big couch potatoe lately and I need to rid my self of being this way. My eating habits do not meet CKD guidlines but thats because I'm still waiting for a referal to see a nuterisionist (spelling? - bad speller alert lol). From my understandings too is that CKD is one of hardest diets to follow because of its always changing protiens potassiums and others.

if anyone is out there, i'd just love to talk ... I have lots of family support but maybe it might be easier knowing im not alone.

    Imagination.

You can use the American Diabetes Association exchange list for meal planning to create a diet plan that works for you. The diets are prepared to fill your caloric needs of carbohydrates, fats, and protein. Avoid saturated fats and simple sugars. Try to limit your cholesterol intake and include high fiber and high complex carbohydrates into your diet program.

CKD problems are the worst frustrating problems in someones life these are caused due to increasing rate of Creatinine and sodium in the kidney and blood so its better to avoid high protein diets and high calories to consume.

Working with a dietitian will help the patient learn proper foods. There are several basic rules.

Avoid salt and MSG. Read labels to make sure what you are eating. low salt alternatives may be: Salt-free herb seasonings, Frozen vegetables, Plain rice, Plain noodles, Unsalted Pretzels, Unsalted popcorn.

Limit Protein. Alternatives may include Egg substitutes, Shrimp, Tofu, Imitation crab meat, Chicken drumstick, beef stew. Eat no more than 3 – 5 ounces of protein per day.

All decisions about your food intake should made in consultation with a dietitian who is working in consultation with your doctor.
