Question WHAT can I do to make myself CARE about my weight, food, and exercise once again?

    Hello there,

I have been suffering from "not caring syndrome" for the last 3 years or so. I don't care much about my food choices--even if I remember that I'll gain weight while over eating/eating junk. I don't care much about exercising--(I don't see the point in it anymore). So that pretty much sums up the rest=I don't bother much with my weight.

But deep down inside, I want an outside force/person/circumstance to change the way I'm living. I want to be healthy. I want to lose 40 pounds and be considered healthy for my height.

So why do I continue to fantasize about an outside force/person/circumstance changing the way I'm eating/exercising? Does this mean I'll never control my weight again? I keep telling myself that I need other people's support on this issue, because it continues to bother me everyday. I feel as though I lose control of my life when I eat so much/don't exercise. It makes me feel helpless and hopeless?

Has anyone else gone through this?/Can anyone relate to my "don't care attitude"? and what can I do to change?

    thank you so much.

I can definitely relate to that. Somewhat going through it now, actually. A couple things you can try though:

-->Go for two weeks on a strictly healthy diet (let me know if you want more details on that, I've read a lot and talked extensively with my nutritionist). After those two weeks you will probably not crave the junk food as much.

-->Take small steps. If it's easier for you, just cut one "bad" thing out of your daily diet each week/2 weeks. Sugared drinks, candy, chips, etc.

-->Ask a friend you live by or spend a lot of time with to remind you or push you to take walks with them when you can. Even have them call you at XX:XX time of day to tell you "Go for a jog!" or"Don't touch that doughnut young lady!"

-->As someone suggested to me, think of what you want to be. Take a picture from the web of a model and put your head on it (if you want to send me the pics I can do it for you), or write down small notes to put in your room/house to constantly remind you of your goal.

If you want, PM me your name if you have a Facebook account, or email (check the rules to see if it's allowed in a PM) and we can help keep each other in check and share what's working for us.

One major thing to think about though. The longer you take to LOSE it, the longer it will be LOST.

Thanks for the suggestions Moo. You know how we all have those tough moments when we think we're not going to get through something and we always do--I'm having that with my diet right now. I just have to be patient.
