Exclamation New and ready to lose weight!

I am 21 years old, my weight fluctuates between 149 and 157 pounds I am 5'3". I never had a weight problem growing up I was blessed with a fast metabolism I could eat anything and I stayed very skinny. At 17 I became pregnant with my daughter and I gained 50 pounds and only lost about 30-35 pounds post-partum. I am very unhappy with the way I look and I can no longer use the excuse that I just had a baby.

Since I was about 18 or 19 I have tried many diets, going as far as not eating and exercising excessively even though I was clear on the consequences of my actions. Even if I do lose even a few pounds I usually gain it back in about a day or so somehow. I have been at the end of my ropes for nearly a year now, doing nothing to help my weight loss.

I almost want to say that I am desperate to lose weight, yet I have no idea how to embark on this challenge. Creating diet and exercise plans mine as well be chinese in my eyes, because I have no idea how to eat healthy or find exercises that work for me. I have constant back aches and knee pain which I am sure is due to the excessive weight I carry on my small frame.

If anyone can help me I am open to all suggestions. I know that everyones body works differently, and what may work for one person may not for the other. But, my plan is to find something that works for me, even if I have to make a few failed attempts at new things.

The best way to lose weight is by eating healthy for life and get moving on a regular basis. There are no quick weight loss schemes that you should waste your money on. I am a Registered Nurse and Health Coach and I help people like you learn how to get healthy and lose weight at the same time. It is very important to be committed to losing weight by getting healthy. If you go the diet route and the exercise route, you may lose weight initially, but then gain it back when you are done with the diet plus extra weight. So, the word of advice I have for you is to make the committment to get healthy and forget about the weight loss starting out because when you focus on getting healthy for life, the weight comes off naturally. I assume the top reasons for losing weight are to like the way you look and protect your health. I encourage you to contact me through my profile page and I can answer any specific questions you have with getting started on this route! I look forward to hearing more about your story and how we can help you finally be successful! YOU CAN DO IT!

I would recommend the following strategy for weight lost:
    1) Reduce or cut refined carbohydrate ( pasta, white bread, potato ) and compensate with more fruits and vegetables.
    2) Drink plenty of water. 30ml for every 2 lb of body weight.
    3) Eat more lean meat or better still, plant protein from beans and nuts.
    4) Move more daily. If you maintain what you eat and walk briskly for 3km 5 times a week, you can burn an extra 265 calories each time and lose about 19 lb in a year. In 3 years, you can lose 57 lbs just by brisk walking.

Why don't you post your usual diet plan here... I weighed 130 lbs at 5 feet when I was 15 and by the time I was 16, I weighed 95 lbs... Actually I had lost all that weight in about 7-8 months and it was mainly diet control and exercise in the form of dance at home with music of my choice (just for fun)...

You can do it. Fight the negativity in your head that says you can't. Anything that takes hard work and persistance can be overwhelming. Think of it like when you start a college degree. You know going in that it's most likely going to take you at least 4 years....it feels overwhelming to think that for 4 years you're going to have to study your brain off and work so hard and be poor. Lol. But you can do it. This is similar to that. You know going in it's going to take time, hard work, persistance, etc.

I agree that it would be helpful to know your current exercise regimen and current daily diet.
