The simple facts are that you need to eat healthier and exersize more. Cut out fried foods, all soda including diet, don't eat anything made with refined bleached flour, cut wayyyyy back on sweets. Eat more fresh fruits and vegetables (french fries don't count) eat only whole grain breads, if you eat meat make sure it is lean, remove chicken skins and it is best if you eat only meats that are certified to be BGH, hormone and antibiotic free. Instead of creamy dressings like Ranch, use vinegar and olive oil. Cut your dairy consumption way back too.

Start to walk as much as you can or ride your bike. Don't sit and watch TV or play games - keep moving!
Your goal should be to get healthy more than to lose wieght, when you get healthy the weight will come off naturally.

Fiber is one of your new "best friends". In addition to what WC said above, which I agree with, start reading labels of the foods your parents buy and look for things that are high in fiber. Maybe go grocery shopping with mom and when she throws a loaf of bread in the cart, STOP and read the label. How many grams of fiber per slice? Read other bread labels to compare...the higher the number the better.

Fiber makes you feel full and full more quickly while NOT adding any calories.

Get on the Internet and Google search "High Fiber Foods". Find some you like, try some you've never had and ask your parents to buy them so you can eat them.

Apples are a GREAT source of fiber (as an example), so eat them.

Get off the couch and get on your feet.....Just like WC said above....you're going to need to exercise...so get up and get moving! At least three times each week for a minimum of 45 mintues each time is recommended. There are lots of exercises you can do at home without joining a gym or feeling embarrassed. I would suggest you do another search on the Internet for "body weight exercises". These are exercises that only require you and your body. No special equipment, shoes or clothing.

    Good luck!

Firstly, you need motivation..a reason...and frankly your family calling you fat, is not a motivation to lose weight, even if they think that it is..We are who we are and people shouldn't throw stones.

Secondly, it's natural to want to look the best for a new start to life, meeting new people, being popular but again that's not a good motivation for doing it, remember, love yourself for who you are.

So, what is your motivation? You want to do this for your self, you want to feel fresh, alive, vibrant, full of life, have energy to burn, succeed in your studies, become whom you've dreamed of in profession...

    That's your motivation.

Weight automatically goes to our bellies first...

Put a broom stick behind your head, arms stretched and twist to each side, slowly repeating 20 times, twice a day.

Run up stairs if there are any and back down.

Try sit ups they are amazing for shape.

Food groups should be as much vegetables and salads, fruits as you can with lean meat and only 200grms, no junk food and eat breakfast it's the most important meal of the day...

If I start to put weight on? Within 1 week I'll loose 2 kilos by watching thy diet again, eating all greens, small amount of meats, tuna salads and wholemeal toast, and lots of water ....I'll walk my dog every day around the block and it's done...

Thank You guys sooo Much i really appreciate it! And to CW i want to tell you my motivation is probably softball. I want to go to college for it and i guess that being healthy would help. And i just want to feel good about myself i really don't care what people say or think but some things do hurt. I'm already popular and i have the whole school as friends. But its kinda in my genes to be "large". Every one in my family is big and almost every one has diabetes or something else linking to their weight. I am going to try this and work hard. This is the first place that has actually helped me. Thank you guys i will get on this thread every day to write how I'm doing. You guys have helped me tremendously. Thank you !!!!!!!!!!!

For those members of your family that have diabetes that is diet related (type 2 diabetes), I would think that would be motivation for you to get healthy and stay that way. Diabetes is a serious condition that can get worse as you age.

Learn what healthy means, work hard to get there and once you've gotten there, stay there.

You don't want to get Diabetes....trust me.

In order to loose weight you must get these drops from this site *removed outbound link*. They are very effective I must say. I lost 16 pounds in 3 weeks, I know you will not believe me but you would come to know in real when you gave them a try.

In regards to food, the more natural the better. Anything that can just be stuffed in an oven or microwave, or purchased from a restaurant window, tends to be bad.
Can you cook? If you can, buy yourself a healthy recipe book, or just look some up online, and get cooking your own meals. I presume your family aren't the healthiest bunch of eaters either? If not, offer to cook for them too, then you can start to be fitter, thinner and healthier as a family.

And you say you want to lose weight for playing softball? Well if you're into sports, get playing as many of them as possible. Exercise will make a huge difference, not only to your weight, but to your health and how you feel about yourself. So join some softball teams (if you can join more than one, I have no idea) and try out some other sports aswell.

all good advice and being healthy is always good. but i just want to take a different slant here - i want to make sure that you losing weight is motivated by your own desire to be healthy, rather than because you want to be cool, etc. I was a chubby/fat kid throughout highschool and it turned out to be the best thing ever - i buckled down on school, had a good circle of friends that didn't judge you based on $$ or image, got into good college and have a good career. Was able to lose the weight AFTER high school so my attitude isn't bad/tainted from being the popular kid, got new wardrobe, bought a place, and have good friends, get hit on by the ladies, and confidence is high.

Met highschool people at a reunion - all the popular kids are now old, fat, or ugly and totally paying the price.

In other words, high school is just a hiccup in life. better to be healthy and wealthy and happy with yourself after high school and for the rest of your adult life - that's where it's really at.

but then again, i'm not against being healthy at a young age either..just throwing a different perspective into the mix.

Oi, Joe, a month has passed

Sports is a good reason to be motivated, and not caring about other people is excellent because we are who we are and if not accepted, then those people are not worth being in our lives.

Diabetes, I have been dealing with a Husky for a few months now, (she's still a person, well sort off ) She was only slightly overweight, yet she still got it....

I think that's also your motivation, fear of having to stick needles into yourself daily...

Not everything is genetic... But, keeping fit, healthy, without going overboard is good for your body and good for you soul.

So, I hope you do come back, even if you found it difficult to get started, because here, we will kick you in the butt nicely if that is your goal and keep motivating you.
