Red face So I've lost 5-6 pounds in a week!

With diet and exercise alone! I am 18 years old, and I've always had a poor body image. I've spent my whole life trying to starve myself, but I can never seem to stop eating. Well I've been at 130-133 pounds for the past year or so, and I'm 5'3". So obviously, I'm not fat, just out of shape.

    But to my main point!
Up until a week ago, I practically LIVED off of fast food. Never cooked, except tv dinners! I started eating right. Watching my salt and sugar intake. Learning what carbs help you burn fat, and what carbs make you store fat. I've also starting exercising about 30 minutes a day, and I've never exercised at home in my life! (only at school)
I havent been weighing myself until today, because what the scale says is almost completely unimportant considering muscle weighs more than fat. BUT I got a little curious today, so I stepped on the scale just to see... and voila! 125 pounds on the dot! I havent been this weight in almost a year! There is also a noticable decrease in the amount of cellulite on the back of my thighs and my bum! (which is where all of my fat accumulates)

I just want everyone to know, there is no easy short cuts!(meaning dont waste your money on diet pills) It's really not that hard to exercise 30 minutes a day. You can even spread it out throughout the day. Stop eating processed and fast food! It lacks nutrients and only MAKES YOU FATTER!

P.S. Dont drink diet soda or eat any diet foods. Most are just tasteless and worse for you than the real thing. Do some research on good food thats good for you. You dont have to live your life starving and eating boring, tasteless diet food!

    Amen

We Mods were just actually talking about this...

Your thread screams excitment and happiness and we are glad that you shared your success, this is exactly what it takes to lose weight.

The other factor is water, drinking water rejuvinates the skin, our body is mostly made up of water and some food groups whilst containing water isn't enough for us, we need more especially given you are exercising 30 minutes a day.

Even housework is exercise, walking upstairs instead of a taking a lift, going for a walk during lunch break, gardening, anything is exercise and the more you do, the more you tone as well...

I 100% agree with processed and fast food, sigh, seems to be the easy way, no cooking yet, we can actually prepare alot of food for a week, boil some eggs, cut up thinly some vegetables, meat...Hungry? Grab some and stir fry it in soya and oyster sauce, teaspoon of each, or mash the egg over a piece of wholemeal bread, now that's fast food
Do we not realise that in order to find a soul
    It doesn't happen over night
if truth were to be told.

Like everything in life that's hard to achieve
    you must believe!

Oh I love this!! I have a friend that kills herself trying to starve and swallow diet pills by the bottle without really working out. When I exercise, it motivates me to eat better and vice versa. And I always keep water around!! It's very refreshing when the body is cleansed of all the crappy food I've eaten. thanks for sharing this!

What a great testament to a healthy life style Talulah. For someone not yet out of her teens you have a very mature approach to what it takes to get and keep your body, and consequently your mind, in shape. You say that there is no easy way and yet when the healthy way becomes part of you, it is actually easy. We get used to the foods that are good for us and find that our sweet tooth almost disappears along with a desire for take aways. Or it has for me anyway. I find healthy living is really the only option I want. I hope it works the same for you in time.

Eating more often is the key to long term successful weight loss. Metabolism, and keeping it revved up, is the key. The way to do that is to eat five or six little meals each day, every day. Try to eat a protein, a complex carbohydrate and a healthy fat every time you eat. Vegetables and fruit, especially unique fruits like Mangos can be eaten anytime without limits.

You lose much more weight throughout your day due to a revved up metabolism than any workout you'll ever do.

Exercise is great! I do it every day too, but lifestyle changes and a revved up metabolism are better.
