Hey, I'm also doing something similar to that challenge you're doing except it is for a 21-day experience thing. I'm Asian so I've had rice my whole entire life. The first day i went without rice was completely hard. How could someone whose always had rice decides not to eat it for 21-days. I must have been crazy. I see that you are doing this to get fit and that is a good thing. Maybe cutting out on the rice might make you healthier. So far I've gone about 18 days without rice and nothing seems to taste the same anymore. Was it hard for you on the first day to go without rice?

    Hi MT,

I moved your thread, as you replied on a thread that was posted in 2009. The OP hasn't returned, therefore won't answer your question.

Rice like all grains have some benefits, vitamins and minerals but eating alot of rice, "carbohydrates" can be, as the carbs are stored, slowly released.

Rice fills you up due to the carbs, and therefore, is often selected, if there isn't much else to add to it, as a meal..

It's good if you are doing this to condition yourself to balance your food groups better.. Bok choy, beans, brocholli, small amount of soy and oyster sauce, accompanied by say, 4 tablespoons of boiled rice, with fish is an excellent meal, for loosing weight.

I don't believe that you need to cut rice out all together, protein from chicken/fish, vegetables, and a small amount of carbohydrates is a balanced diet.

You can also try brown rice as a substitute. Who knows, you may find yourself converted by the end.
