Question 19yr old. want to lose weight healthily

Become a member to remove this ad.
I am 12/13 stone, 5ft 2 and 19 years old. For my age/height I should be around 8 stone. I don't mind 9/10 but I am not healthy, I lose my breath climbing stairs or doing a short run, I am straining my legs because of the upper body weight they are carrying. I want to live a long healthy life, so I need to sort this weight issue out very soon.

I want to lose weight fast. As does everyone. Of course I want to do it a healthy way.
    Fitness
    The right foods

I don't own a bike, nor can I afford the gym now I am only part time working
I don't eat fish, which is one of the main ingredients in healthy cooked foods.

    Could anyone give me advice?
I am willing the listen and try all sorts of things.

Foods to eat. Not to eat.
What to give up. Eat more of.
    Exercise from home. Outside

    Thank you

Hi Rebecca, good for you for wanting to start working towards a healthy, long life! But you must be patient with yourself. I'm reading "LOSE WEIGHT FAST" all over your post, and unfortunately, that is not typically how it goes. You didn't put on the extra weight in a week, and it won't be coming off that fast either.

Can you tell us a bit about what you do in a typical day? What do you do for exercise? What do you eat and drink typically? This might help us give you more personalized tips to how you can lose the fat and be a healthier, happier you.

Don't feel like you can't eat healthy because you don't eat fish as that really is not the case at all! Fish is only one of many healthy protein options like poultry, legumes, nuts, low fat dairy, and some lean cuts of pork. These all carry similar benefits to your diet as fish.

Mainly, what a healthy diet should consist of is lean proteins (like the ones mentioned above), WHOLE grains (no white breads, rice, etc), fresh fruits, and lots and lots and LOTS of vegetables. Cut out the junk food, cut out the high sugar drinks and replace with water. AND WATCH YOUR PORTION SIZES!

As for exercise, the world is your gym! You don't need a membership at some fitness center to get in shape. Use your own body weight to your advantage by using resistance training. Go for long walks and try jogging here and there to get your heart rate up. Go on YouTube and find some free exercise ideas you can try. It won't cost you a thing, except your time researching and doing the activities.

In my opinion, you need to eat stuff healthy, like vegetables, soja milk, integral cookies, integral bread , etc. And make some exercise, like jogging, go to gym, etc.
    So, you're right.

Weight watchers has worked well for a number of people I know personally! It really helps a person to be accountable for the food and drinks they're eating (ie, the more junk you eat, the less you get to eat. period.)

Good luck, and let us know how your progress goes!

What are you doing at the gym? A good mix of cardio and strength training should give you the boost you need to be a lean, mean, fat burning machine!
