sounds like your husband's cardiovascular health is pretty good! That's awesome because it means he should be able to exercise in the mornings without much of a challenge, so he won't feel like death warmed over before going to work. It is definitely a misconception that people carrying extra weight are somehow automatically less fit than leaner people. Heck, when I was 70 lbs heavier, I could run circles around a few of the women I worked out with. They were naturally thin, but thin doesn't necessarily equate to physically fit.

If your husband continues to jog in the mornings and works on his meals a bit, he'll be successful at losing that extra 20lbs he's looking to get rid of. Portion control, and perhaps making healthier choices all around (like maybe a sub sandwich for lunch instead of a burger and fries?) should really help! Of course, this is all up to your husband to do.. you can help by making smaller meal sizes for dinner, but he has to WANT to exercise and eat leaner for lunch.

Alot of cops eat out on their lunch breaks together. Most of them don't take their lunch because they have nowhere to store it that will be easily accessible when they happen to get their signal 5. If they are on a call at what would normally be their lunch break, they have to wait. So packing lunch is almost impossible. Finding healthy alternatives for eating out IS a possibility though.

If he's a focus oriented type of guy, get him on using LoseIt (google it). He can put in his weight goals, and log his food daily to find out if he's over or under his needed calories. Also, increase protein and fiber and decreasing sugar (all sugar), fat (not ALL fat) and carbs (not ALL carbs). If youre the cook in the household, start researching online healthy recipes. AllRecipes is great for that because you can type in an ingredient you have (i.e. chicken) and find all sorts of recipes and their nutrition facts.

Make less. Cut your serving sizes down to two. Most people cook WAY too much food. And if you do cook too much, put the extra in tupperware containers and tell him they are leftovers for tomorrow. No seconds. No desserts.

The running will be really good for you too. Just don't overdo it.

    I woke hubby up this morning;

me: wake up it's time to go jogging
    hubby: what time is it
    me: 4:05 AM
    hubby: go away
me: you wanted to lose weight, get up and go jogging
hubby: you can't go jogging you have blisters on your feet
me: you will jog I will watch
hubby: do you want to have sex

So he didn't go jogging this morning. I did cut back on his breakfast, 2 eggs rather than 3, one slice of cheese rather that 2 in his omelet. Only 2 slices of toast. I think he left for work a little hungry, I only hope he don't make up for it at lunch.

Hubby weighed this morning, he had lost 4 pounds in one week. I realize part of the loss could be normal day to day variation but it was good news. One bad thing about his diet is that I have lost weight too. I weighed in at 97 pounds so I'll have to start eating more when he is not home.

He said he had cut down on lunches and I have been cutting down on his meals at home. He has only gone jogging 2 times, once with me.

This morning I fixed him steak salad for breakfast. It had lots of baby spinach, cold beef steak cubes and blueberries with balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing (light on the olive oil.) I also gave him a toasted whole wheat sandwich thin. I figure it was about half the calories of his normal breakfast.

Since he seemed to like the salad for breakfast, anyone have any salad recipes that would be good for breakfast?

Good for him in losing weight. Sorry about your losing some too. What you eat and how much you eat is the key to a sustainable dietary change.

I know all men love the yolk of an egg, but why not make a white egg omlette? With say a bit of baby spinach, tomatoe, mushroom cut up into it, if need be, use two whites of the egg to one yolk, so there is some taste of yolk in it but it's low in calories and good for him as well, on wholemeal bread.

Try to eat raw food for two weeks. I lost 23lbs in one month. I ate a lot! But all food was raw: nuts, veggies, fruits. In fact, I was surprised that when I ate raw food I was not hungry.

He's lost 20 pounds since he started the diet, he now weighs 195, that's 5 pounds less than before we were married. Now he can quit blaming me for fattening him up.

If he can lose 10 more pounds he will be within his goal. I can't get him to exercise much outside so I've been trying to keep him busy in the bedroom. : )

Hello, Chaya! You took great decision to cut down portions! But best is to consult a nutritionist. And the exercises are a great idea, even 10 minutes a day will give a positive result! Wish ya luck.
