Default Fitness Challenge - Are You In?

Sometimes when we're in a rut or perhaps have hit a plateau in fitness goals, it helps to give ourselves a little challenge. So, I've decided to start a month long fitness challenge and want to know how many of you will join me. It doesn't matter if you're physically fit already, overweight, or underweight. The key is consistency, learning what nutrition works for you, what exercise works for you, etc.

    Here is the challenge:

    1. Weigh in. Post your current weight and height. You must agree to not weigh yourself again until the end of the challenge. NO CHEATING!

    2. Log your food and drink intake daily. No cheating...you're the only one it hurts. Log it all, even your guilty pleasures. I use LoseIt (you can find it on google and there is an iPhone app for it), MyFitnessPal is a good one, or there are other ones others here use. On any of these, you can determine based on your current weight and height, how many calories you should have per day in order to reach your goal weight. At the end of each day, log the following: Calories, Protein, & Fiber

    3. Log your exercise.

    4. Set weekly rewards for yourself and log them here as well. At the end of each week if you have successfully completed steps 1-3 each day, you will earn your reward. Rewards should not be food related.

This thread is your Fitness Challenge playground. When posting your daily feedback, feel free to post how you are feeling that day, feel free to give constructive feedback to others. This is intended to be positive, informative and motivational. I will track your feedback. NO SPAM OR ADVERTISING WILL BE TOLERATED.

The challenge will begin tomorrow, August 1 2011 and will end September 5 2011.

    Who's up for the challenge?!!

33 views and no one's up for the challenge? Look around, see all these posts about losing weight, learning how to eat right, get fit, etc. And no one wants to join me in this challenge?

Ok, I have read everything, and I have a few questions. 1) If we use the trackers that you suggested, do we still need to post our food and exercise on here? 2) This is a very stupid question, I realize, but it confuses me. On step #4, it says that each week when we re-start everything, we will need to post our current weight. How are we supposed to do that if aren't supposed to weigh ourselves? (Like, if we lost two or three pounds this week?)

I am up for the challenge!!!

Nope. All you need to do here in regards to food is at the end of each day list your total Calories, Protein and Fiber consumed that day along with what exercise you did that day. No need to list out all your food since you'll already be doing that on one of the trackers.

On step #4, it says that each week when we re-start everything, we will need to post our current weight. How are we supposed to do that if aren't supposed to weigh ourselves? (Like, if we lost two or three pounds this week?)
You shouldn't weigh yourself weekly. The purpose of this is to train the mind not to focus on the number on the scale, but on the way you feel, the way your clothes fit, etc. You will only be posting your weight twice during this challenge. Once today, and once at the end of the challenge.

So, tonight after you've finished your day and finished your eating you will: Post your current weight and height. Post your daily calories, protein and fiber. Post your exercise of the day. Discuss your personal goals (i.e. I'd like to lose __ lbs, I'd like to exercise at least 4 days per week for at least 1 hr each, I'd like to cut out sugar from my diet, etc). And post your reward that you will earn this coming weekend if you've completed all your goals for the week. You will set a new reward for yourself every Monday. Other than on Mondays when you post your new reward for the week, you will just post your calories protein fiber and exercise daily. And of course anything else you're experiencing that you want to share, and anything motivational.

I've already started logging my calories this morning. I'm glad you're joining me in this challenge. I have done this once before with a group on Facebook and I was not only very pleased with the results, but very pleased with how much I learned about myself and how much that extra motivation of knowing "I have to post my results for the team to see!" helps keep you on track.

    I'm excited!!!

    Tempting....

But, I'm a little (or a lot) OCDish. I religiously weigh myself every single darn day. I know, I know, I know... You don't need to say what I know you are thinking. But, I do take my measurements too (not every day).

I have 18 pounds until my ultimate goal weight and I've been plateaued for about 3 months now. GRRRRR

Come on LB. It's only a month. Put the scale up in the closet and free yourself from the burden of scale #'s for a month.

LOL... A few weeks ago I tried not weighing myself for a week. I lasted 4 days.

I'm up for the challenge, minus the absence of the scale, lol. I really couldn't do it, going a month without weighing myself. I know I would crack, so I may as well save myself the disappoint, lol.

Lol. Well at least try. If you can't go a month, then tell yourself once per week max. You can DO IT!!

    Default Day 1 - BD's Results

Today I weighed in at 126 lbs and I am 5'3"-5'4". I rocked it on protein today with 69.8 grams, but didn't do well at all on fiber with less than 5 total grams ALL day. I jogged this evening and burned a total 412 calories, so I ended my day with net calories of 897. This gives me about 448 to spare.

An adult needs around 30 grams of fiber per day. I think alot of time we underrate our fiber consumption. Tomorrow, I will start back adding psyllium husks to my diet to get that extra fiber in.

My reward: This part is hard for me. It's hard to get in the mindset that I am "deserving" of a reward. But we work hard to attain our goals and it's NOT easy. So my goal in which I will give to myself on Sat or Sun will be: a piece of decor for my home.

    Already ladies, your turn!!!

To anyone else who hasn't joined in yet, feel free to join in late. Better late than never.

    Day 1, Cheyenn's results

Last week I weighed around 138 (three pounds from my goal!!!!), and I am around 4'9''.

My total calorie intake was 760, out of 885 leaving me with 125 calories left over. But, I did have a very small peice of some kind of mocha cake, and I'm not sure of the total calories or anything, so I ate more than what it says. My fiber was only 2g and my protein was 4.4g, which I'm guessing itsn't very good.

I did work out for about twenty minuets today, but I only logged five because I haven't figured out how to log what else I did.

My reward for the weekend; hmm, this is difficult! My "reward" for this weekend will try to have a few hours alone one night and take a bath or write a chapter in my story.
