    Default Doctor's weight loss program??

Im sure many of you have heard of certain doctors offering weight loss programs. So where my aunt works theres a doctors office and they provide the weightloss program. This which consists of a vitamin shot and a months supply of diet pills with a meal plan also. And if done correctly in a month 20-30lbs could be lost. And each week i would have to go in to see how much weight and inches i have lost. Now im not sure if to try that for a month or just continue going to the gym(i have actively been going M-F for about 2weeks now). Any suggestions or ideas. I just want to see different point of views. Since i have a free consultation today

This sounds like something similar to what my cousin did a few months back. Yeah, she did lose weight, but apparently it turned her into an irritable person. When she went off the program, the weight came back in no time.

I would recommend skipping the program. Start logging ALL of your food and exercise in a program online. I use The Daily Plate off of Livestrong. Another idea, since you were going to spend the money on the program, maybe make an appt with a nutritionist instead. To get some ideas and feedback from them as well.

In one way, it's a good thing that Doctors do, employ the idea of assisting people lose weight, here underlines my problem with it though. Some company has made them a deal.. A percentage from their sales, for the vitamin shots and for those diet pills and to me, that's not a Doctor's job to use it's practise to make additional money through commissions.

I am not at all a fan of diet pills. I agree with Lana, they can make you irritable, and once you stop, your body can gain more weight..

There was an interesting article written here over the past week by a guy, quite in-depth I will try to locate it, it made alot of sense, and exercise as usual is always the main key, along with no processed foods, small meat portions, loaded up with fresh salads or vegetables, omitting as much fat as possible, ie) creams, oil - deep fries and drinking at least 8 glasses of water... You can't go wrong with changing a sensible diet, adding protein, wholegrains, fruit , veg, fish, antioxidents such as red fruits, greens and by maintaining that type of food consumption with once a week eat what you want, you will always keep weight off.

CW brings up a good point on the diet changes. The small things make a HUGE difference. If you drink soda, cut it out of your diet. I've eliminated breads, pastas, rice, basically anything "white".

Be honest with your portions. My nutritionist says that half or more of your plate should be veggies, 1/4 should be lean protein, 1/4 should be healthy starches or beans.

Find common items that you can help base your portions on. For example, 2-3 oz of meat, should be about the size of a deck of cards or maybe the palm of your hand. Eat your proteins first because that is what is going to fill you up. Take your TIME eating, it can take your brain 20-30 minutes to get the "I'm full" feeling from your stomach. If you are eating rapid fire in 10 minutes, it doesn't give your brain time to get that message and you end up over eating. Just some helpful tips anyways.

I stopped drinking soda all i drink is water and once in awhile gatorade, but soda has no taste to me anymore i think its due to the fact that im used to water. I eat pretty decent i guess, small portions but sometimes i do go many hours without eating but its because i do not feel hungry, that which i know is bad. I try not to eat fast food during the week, only weekends sometimes and i mainly do cardio while i work out. But these pills seemed interesting and a good fast way to loose weight but i have always been skeptical about pills since i have seen my mother and many relatives and the side effects. Ive never been on a "diet" or tried to loose weight. But ive gained about 20 something pounds in about 3yrs =(. i was always the most 135lbs but was a size 1 & 3 in jeans and also im almost 5'8 in height and i weighed myself 2weeks ago and im at 162lbs but havent weighed myself since.

I think i will just stick to working my butt of at the gym and having a healthy balanced diet. and thank you both for the great knowledge and advice.

Also Chandlers wish thanks for taking the time to look for the tread i am about to read it

Go to webMD on the internet and find out what the ideal wieght loss is per week. If memory serves me correctly, it's 1 - 2 per week as a maximum. Anything else is considered less than healthy by those that aren't profitting from it.
