I'm confused about numbers on the scale and body fat percentage.
Charts say my ideal weight is around 120-125 at my height (5'4-5'5), but I was told that I looked too skinny at that weight during my early 20's. When I used to weigh 110 in highschool, everybody around me said I looked like I was 90 lbs and needed to eat more.
My weight is heavier now (don't feel comfortable disclosing the number) and my body fat percentage is considered normal (not low or in the athletic range).
I've met people who weigh the same as me and look much bigger? I've also met people who weigh more than me, but look thinner. Is it safe to say that someone can carry most of their fat/weight in their breasts, butt and hips? I wouldn't say I'm thin, but I don't think I'm large either. I'm a C cup with wide hips/butt, a small waist and long legs. I'm just trying to figure out what weight would be best for me. If I go down to 125 lbs, I would go a cup size smaller.
There are a few things that could be at play here.
Sure, one is WHERE you carry any fat deposits. Some women will look heavier than others because their bellies or faces can take on the excess pounds, women who look lighter may put the weight on their bums and chest - making them look more thin in the waist area.
It could also be your phyiscal composition. There's a lot that goes into what we "weigh", and two people of the same height and weight may not be the same composition... fat mass, muscle mass, bone mass, etc... The more "non fat" mass a person has (like muscle), the leaner the person is. So you may be a bit heavier on the scale than someone with a similar body type to you, because of the composition of your bodies are different even though they may look the same
