Probably the excess skin thing. I rub in the cocoa butter religiously, but there's an evil little voice at the back of my brain that says "oooh, if you lose loads of weight you'll just end up looking about 90, with skin like your granny, so you might as well have another chocolate eclair."

I think that is my biggest fear as well, I keep thinking my extra skin will make me look awful. I want to lose weight but that is my main thing that is holding me back. I keep gaining which is only making the problem worse.

neffjb: if it's any consolation, I have lost a fair bit of weight in the last 7 months despite my loose skin worries, and I'd still rather look like I do now than I did then. All the stuff I have read stresses that the serious loose skin problems occur when you lose shedloads of weight really quickly, as people do after a gastric bypass for example, when the skin can't adjust quickly enough as the fat melts away. It can also be an issue when the weight loss is really major - 20 BMI points and the like - even when you lose it more slowly. I can see the effects of my own weight loss in the skin on my stomach and thighs in particular, so I treat myself to lots of nice body butter and try to keep my weight loss steady and not too fast. I try to use it positively too - when I went on holiday recently and had 2 weeks away from the strict diet and exercise, I had a month overall where I didn't lose any weight. I told myself "That's OK, you're just giving your skin a break and a chance to adjust before you lose some more!" and slapped on more moisturiser. Maybe I will look a bit older when I reach my target weight - being fat does have the advantage of plumping out your wrinkles - but I just keep telling myself it will be worth looking my age if I get an extra few years of health to go clothes shopping!

i am so afraid that once i finish losing the weight i want, that i am not going to be able to sustain my new lifestlye. i am afraid that i will just get lazy again and slowly gain the weight back and not realize it till i am right back where i started. i am scared of my own success. because in the past failure has followed.
