    Default Weight loss Journey

Yesterday I've committed to losing some serious weight. I'm tired of feeling that people only see me as someone who over eats and therefor has no control instead of seeing me for everything else that I'm worth.

As I mentioned in my introduction, I am bipolar. I take medication that affects my insulin levels and the other medication I take affects my hunger. When I started these meds in 2010 I went from 135 lbs to 205lbs in less than 3 months, most of my family have told me it happened in less than two months. I noticed right away that suddenly I went from being unable to finish meals to NEEDING thirds or fourths. With a great deal of personal discipline, I've brought my eating back dowsignificantlyly.

I'm going to start posting pictures every week, and weighing in every week, as well as reporting my food goals. I'm also going to add to this thread every day what I'm doing exercises and what is inspiring me and motivating me, and what is holding me back.

My loseit app said I could reach my goal of 150lbs by March 20, 2012. I'm not sure how accurate that is but that would be amazing! Here's to good health.

Hi Avitom! Just wanted to give you some support and tell you I know you can do it! I know how hard weight issues can be to deal with, and the meds add a whole other layer to the equation. But if you hold on to faith, treat yourself well, and keep trying different methods to see what works best with your body, you'll be at a fabulous weight in no time. Good for your for making a serious commitment!

Alright, so Day 2 of Week 1, I'm being brave and posting my before pictures.

I weigh in at 188lbs. My goal is to lose 38 of that. Before I was 135 but I plan on gaining some muscle mass as well, so I think 150 is a good goal.

Today for excersise I did 20 minutes of Jillian Michaels circuit training, I also plan on biking from my parents place back to mine, a 25 minute bike ride uphill.

Right now I'm feeling really optimistic. I would love to add significant weight loss to my achievements. My most recent health achievement was quitting smoking, I have gone 149's without a cigarette! And like quitting, I feel weight loss takes a few attempts before you get it. I think I'm going to get it this time.

My calves are killer sore from doing jumping jack squats yesterday! I'll have some green tea to help wash out the lactic acid and give my muscles some caffiene to help them recover.

    Red face

Alright, Day 3 and on target with my calories. However I would like to work on the percentage of my calories and where they come from. Right now I'm sitting at about 70% of them coming from carbs, 14% from fats and 16% from protiens. Does anyone know what's a more ideal ratio?

I've been incorperating excercise everyday, using Jillian Michaels on my Wii, her circuit training DVD, as well as making more of an effort to bike to places instead of driving. I will be biking the 3km to work today as well.

Also! Dun dun dun dah! I'm down 2lbs!

P.S. Thanks for all the support everyone, it really does feel like I have my own little team cheering me on.

Ugh, I've managed to pick up either another bug or I'm on part two of a very vengeful flu. Either way, got my circuit training in today, although I was yelling back at my TV at how much I hate Jillian Michaels. I hate her. She is a sadist. I want McDonalds and chips and to magically not have any consequences. I want to see HER try and doing 30 jumping jacks with an extra 40 pounds on her! Naaaaarg! Alright... done having my temper tantrum. Today I'm feeling unmotivated, and I'm REALLY craving salty-fats-sweets. Basically, if we could deep fry about 2 pounds of Oreo Cakesters I'd be in heaven. If I deep-fried my cats I would probably eat them. I just want terrible food today. I caved and picked up a bag of baked chips, which I consider a lesser evil.

I'm trying to exercise the moment I wake up, before breakfast so that it's done. Otherwise I seem to find a reason to put it off. I'm not eating very well today but I will stay under my calorie budget. My goal for next week is to get my calorie protein-carbs-fats ratios from 16-70-14 to 30-50-20. I'm also going to drink lots of water and rest, and try to get this flu under control.

    I WILL lose this weight!

i know how hard this is but you need to work on changing your relationship with food. i hear what you are saying about craving junk. but you talk about junk food fondly. IMO... you need to start talking badly about those foods. it is a physcological game. i hate mcdonalds. do you see what they have done to my hips? carrots, brocolli, celery are good for me. they will help make me who i want to be. positive self talk. believe me, i have been there, it is very important and it takes practice. the more you use positive self talk the easier it will become. then you will actually start believing it because it will start being true. i was 179 lbs and stand only 5 foot tall. last weigh in 3 weeks ago i weighed 141.5 lbs. it is a journey and you have to change everything about your life. the way you think about food, the way you eat food and how you think and feel about exercise. being positive makes sticking to any life change easier. so when those nagging thoughts creep in your head, and they will, immediately start with your positive self talk. before you know it there will be less and less negative and more positive and you will feel soooo much better.

Thanks Cyndie, that's really good advice. Thank you for sharing your success as well, it's really inspiring and it's wonderful to hear.

I don't even LIKE McDonalds, just when I get down it's amazing how badly I want food that is harmful to me.

I will take your advice and try to keep healthy foods in a much, and watch the self talk! That's something I really need to work on. Thanks. Tomorrow will be a better day for sure.
