about 3 months ago i gave birth to a beautiful healthy baby girl. I am so happy to be a mother. I am starting to feel insecure about my weight, specially since thanksgiving i have put on 10 more pounds. I am asking for advice from someone who has been in my situation. I work out, go for walks, eat as healthy as i can, but i do admit sometimes i have a pop or a chocolate bar. Please help! I need to gain my self confidence back. Thankyou for your time.

I just gave birth about 6months ago but I always keep myself in check and never indulge in chocolates and other stuff. The best way to reduce is by using your will power. I went to the store and bought a low cut sexy dress and hang it on my bedroom door so i can see it easily. I always challenge myself to reduce and be able to wear it on my 8th month after giving birth. Luckily, I can now fit in my dress

So sorry honey that you typed this in October, thanks fernia and welcome to the Forum

First off your husband has to understand all you went through and be there for you, commend you, comment on you, inside and out.

If you feel un-comfortable he's not helping you through this.

You are allowed to put on weight.

Are you depressed? Feeling down? Sounds as if you are still eating as if you still was carrying the baby

Motivational things are great I agree with the above but you need a supporting husband, how are things there?

Do you breastfeed? How often? Are there other health issues? Did you deliver your baby via C-section or was it normal? I hope you get back with us, dear and sorry for the lag in our replies.

You can start with a regular walk around your neighborhood for 15 - 20 minutes a day. Drink water instead of soda (especially if you are breastfeeding it's not good for your baby). Try to eat a well-balanced and healthy diet of greens and watch your portions. You shouldn't deprive yourself of food like most dieters do since you are still nursing a child and still recovering from childbirth. Take your time and enjoy your baby. If you must, talk to a counselor so you can deal with postpartum blues better.

It takes a body around 9 months to "bounce back" from a pregnancy - but remember that parts of your body may never be the same, especially your breasts and stomach area.

I find it simpler to go crazy with exercise than to resist food cravings. Make sure that you're keeping your heart rate up when you exercise, for at least 30 minutes at a time. This time doesn't include any warmup or cool down you do. As your baby gets older and more capable, you'll have more time to devote to yourself and your still-healing body. Don't worry, your hard work will pay off eventually.

hi everyone, sorry i haven't gotten back for a while. I have changed my eating styles, i am eating more veggies and i make a fruit platter for when i have cravings. I have been drinking so much water, and have stopped drinking coffee. I even bought skim milk. I love doing turbo jam, very good workout, and after i do situps and pushups and the plank on my exercise ball. I have noticed i have gained 8 pounds. I am getting really depressed. I have to formula feed my 4 month old daughter, I lost so much blood at delivery and could produce enough breast milk. I did try to breastfeed for a month, but we had to give her formula too, and eventually she only wanted bottle.

Try checking your heart rate while you're doing cardio exercise. If it's not getting high enough for long enough, it won't do you much good in fat burning.

How does your body look since gaining 8 lbs? Do you feel better? Are you thinner? Did you lose any inches? Remember that a unit of muscle weighs more than a unit of fat. It could be that with all your strength-building exercises, you're building your muscle without losing much fat.
