Hi everyone. I am new to this site. I joined because I'm sick of how I look and feel. I want to loose weight, but mostly I want to feel better about myself. I have tried a lot of different programs but always seem to end up at the same place I started.

I am a Chef. Part of my job (a big part in fact) is eating. I have to taste every dish that comes out of my kitchen. What I really need help with is how do I track this? I know that keeping track of your food/caloric intake is important to success in weight loss, but I don't exactly have time to measure and count the calories I am consuming EVERY night. Also, I would love some tips on VERY quick snacks. Something I can eat at the restaurant instead of eating bread (my go-to snack at work).
Every time I have asked people for advice on this (non-chefs), the response has been something to the effect of "Just don't taste things. Have someone else do it for you".

Unfortunately, this is just not an option for me. So any suggestions other than that would be AWESOME!!! Thanks!

I think good snacks would be fresh raw veggies like carrots, celery, cauliflower, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, etc. I feel this snack is filling and is a good replacement for bread. It is also very low-calorie that way when you have to try your recipes you won't be including all those extra calories on top of the calories you already consumed with bread. You can also cut up some fresh fruit, but you would just need to be careful as to not eat a TON of it, because it does have sugars/carbs, but I do understand you can't eat veggies everyday, lol. You could also try a handful of mixed nuts. ONly really a handful though, because they are high fat (but the good fat which I am sure you know) but they will hold off your hunger and cravings until your next meal. Also very good for your hair and skin! One of my other snacks in low-fat yogurt with some granola. I know that Yo-Plait (sp?) has some that are only around 100 calories. Yogurt also stops cravings and is very healthy for a womans lady parts. I also sometimes like to get some of the "Soup At Hand" and sip on that while I work, because if I ever do get a craving I have that right there, but be sure to watch the sodium, if you can get low sodium that would be great, because with lots of salt you will bloat and have water weight. Oterhwise, most soups (besides the creamy ones) are pretty low-fat. Otherwise, you can always get some low-sodium boulion cubes and mix it in hot water and sip on that. Hope this helps!
~Today, any person can fight the battles of one day It is only when you and I add the burdens of those two awful eternity's- yesterday and tomorrow, that we break down. It is not the experience of today that drives people mad. It is the remorse of bitterness for something which happened yesterday and the dread of what tomorrow may bring.
Let us therefore, live but one day at a time.~

Eating veggies is a good suggestion. I like making a big of green salad. it keeps the stomach full and it very healthy. You are probably taking half of your daily recommended calories intake during the day when you taste food. So lighter meals would balance out them numbers.
