I have found heavy and fast weight training such as doing super sets, and lifting relatively heavy weight have helped me more than doing cardio. I watch what I eat within reason making sure I eat good clean meals, no processed foods at all. I much prefer to torture myself in the gym 5 days a week than try to eliminate my caloric intake. I lost 25 pounds myself but over a period of a year, sure a bit slow but the end result I love because of the muscle tone I achieved. The bottom line is everyone's body reacts differently to different things.
