Aw man IEPS are so much paper work! Ahhhh! But it will feel so nice once they are done. Sounds like your routines are working and you are on your way to working out. I practically had to drag myself to the treadmill and ran for about 40 minutes for 2.5 miles alternating the incline. I put on a big baggy sweatshirt and sweatpants, isn't that attractive? lol. That's all i had in me today. Maybe we can be work out buddies when you decide to start. We can blog our workouts together. BTW... Kindergarten is chaos! help! :-0

I think this is a great thread. Sharing weight loss tips is definitely useful. So here are a few tips that actually worked for me:

    1. Maintain or increase muscle mass. Specifically, do weight training. Muscle is metabolically active— it requires calories. The more muscle you have, the more calories you need to sustain it, the more food you can eat and still bring down your level of bodyfat.

    2. Allow yourself a treat. All diet and no fun can make you nuts. No more than once a week, really indulge in those things you miss.

    3. Don’t punish yourself. If you do go off the deep end and really, really blow it big time, go right back to where you left off. You can’t compensate by starving yourself or over-aerobicising. No matter what you ate or however much, three days back on the program will erase any clue.

    4. Picture the end result. Look in the mirror and ponder the future. Imagine what you’ll look like when you reach your goal. Use the image to make good decisions.

5.Avoid weighing yourself too often, or if you feel that you have to, use a Quantum scale (quantumscale.com, just to make it easier to find), it registers your weight but does not display it, so you don't have to worry about developing any "scale anxiety". Remember, your scale is supposed to be a tool to help you manage your weight, not an evil device deciding your mood for the day.

    6. Be Realistic. You didn't gain all your weight in two weeks, so it's going to take more than two weeks to take it off. A half pound to a pound a week is all you should ever hope to lose - if that. A slow steady metamorphosis is underway.

    7. Eat Consistently throughout the day. No more than three to four hours should pass between meals. Spacing meals keeps your energy levels constant and prevents ravenous hunger.

    Good luck everyone!

I think join a gym is quite a good idea. Last year I went to the gym twice a week and I dropped almost 10 pounds. But this year I am too busy with my work and have no time to go to the gym to exercise. I am planning to purchase an exercise bike so that I can still work out at home.

any movement is better than no movement. remember, if you are up and moving you are burning more calories than the person just sitting on the couch. when i was in the weight loss portion of my newplan, the rule in my house was: the tv runs on human power. i had to be up and moving to watch tv.
